Must have happened while I was sleeping.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Press claiming we pushed through the Suarez deal cos of the Torres transfer request - some say it as proving our ambition, others say it as signing a replacement. One of the many:

Liverpool wasted no time in reacting to the demand, with their director of football strategy Damien Comolli travelling to Amsterdam to secure the capture of Luis Suarez by tellingly doubling his original offer for the Ajax star.

The Reds will pay £23million for a player they valued at only £12m two days ago and have offered him a four-year contract worth in excess of £15m.

The Uruguay World Cup star admitted: “I have got a lot to thank Ajax for, but everyone must understand I really want to go to Liverpool because this is a dream come true.â€

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Suarez by numbers:

154 goals in 269 club games, that's 0.57 goals per game

16 goals in his 38 caps for Uruguay

7 match ban for biting an opponent in a Dutch league game

15 shots on target at the World Cup, more than any other player

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

So i think some credit should be given to Comolli ?

Is it safe to assume that whenever he flies to meet a player's club, it's a done deal ?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Soooooo when's his medical etc?

I wont feel safe about anything until he's holding up the red shirt, with a beaming smile. Thanks Fernando.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Let me clear this up. Suarez is NOT a replacement for Torres. If he was, Liverpool would not be saying Toress is NOT FOR SALE. How hard is that for some journos to understand ? Thick twats.

Yeah welcome Luis. Shame the cunt has ruined your day.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Is going to sign a 5,5 year contract. 19 mill £ paid upfront.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Pfffff... what's a contract?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Wow, that's pretty long.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

That's just under 70,000 a week though; that can't be right,can it?

NOt when we're paying Jocrapovic 60 odd thousand.

Haha so you think we are paying £19m upfront to the player?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Got a bit confused.

Thought the transfer fee was 23 million?

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

it is, but 19mil up front, the rest will prob be based on appearances etc

5 and a half years though....fucking long

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

It's a massive gamble though; if he turns out excellent then it's a great way to protect his value.

But if he's shit then it will make our current struggle to offload our overpaid, overshite players look like child's play.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Is anyone else worried that Suarez might cancel his transfer to Liverpool because Torres is leaving? Clubs has only agreed the fee, Suarez hasn't signed his contract yet!

I think this will turn a bigger nightmare than it's already is.

go away misery

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Absolutely made up. As far as the timing of his arrival being an issue? I don't think so , we are looking for a new hero, and if he is well scripted and shoves in a couple of goals early doors he will be it. All the Love that turned to hate for Torres will be magnified and channelled into Luiz adoration .

Fingers crossed for a great start.

I'm afraid Sven may have a point though. Even if the move goes through, Torres' departure could seriously overshadow it.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door*FEE AGREED*

Torres is a shit cunt who just scored flukey goals. I never rated him anyway 😉

Then again, we might bring in someone fitter, stronger and more committed, and have money spare for another couple of decent players, it might just be an ill wind that blew us some good.
At Liverpool it always seems something usually turns up in these situations, and more often than not for the better. Keegan went , we got Kenny. Rush went we got Aldo. Owen went we got Torres (eventually).
I have been a bit pissed off at everyone having to please Torres with everything we do.

Fucking right Vlad. Who the fuck does he think he is ? Fuck off to Chelsea - you belong there - they've got delusions of grandeur as well. Financial Fair Play rules are going to hit their ageing squad hard soon - shame the thick twat doesn't realise that.
