Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

So we've paid for babel to fly to germany with no intention of leaving, and comolli to holland for what could have been a 30 second phone call.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Fuckin el Damien, it's not fucking ebay.

Neets is just doing her contrarian/devils advocate thing. I don't think she believes what she is saying, because it's an incredibly weak argument.
Like I said, they're obviously wrong for saying what they did, and I more than anyone totally disagree with them: I'm a female football fan.

But I just think the whole thing's being blown out of proportion. Is anyone surprised that two fifty-something year old men think this? Really? No. So let's not all act like it's shocking that they do.

And like I said, everyone on here is just going to town on them, cos it's them. Would we be saying the same if it was Alan Hansern? Of course not.

But hearing people compare it to racism is just plain pissing me off. It's not the same, they're comments didn't include broadly recognised sexist terms, instead what they said was specific to football, what Ron Atkinson said was not, the term that he chose to use goes well beyond football. The two cases cannot be compared.
Agreed, it's not surprising.

I disagree that it's because people hate them. There'd be just as much uproar if it was Alan Hansen.

The point that you are making that just doesn't make any sense is your attempt to compartmentalize a generalization. If I said "African Americans are not capable of being Engineers" it would be a deeply racist thing to say. It wouldn't not be racist because I was applying my racism to a specific pursuit, and that my terminology wasn't racist.

I don't see the difference between the statement "African Americans are not capable of being Engineers", the statement "Niggers are dumb", it's just that the second is more crass.

It's not the same as racism, but it is just sexism, and the generalization that goes with it is the same mechanism. What they said wasn't specific to football. Their statement, like much sexism throughout the ages says that they aren't capable of understanding a priveleged set of knowledge due to a deficiency inherent to their gender. Then the "do me a favour, love" betrays a total condescension not even worthy of articulation.
excellent post mate.
Again, I disagree. Because you're black people are bad engineers is a baseless comment to make, where as football *is* a male dominated sport, the PL has only male players, manager and officials, so they're comments are not baseless, see my couture fashion example for a more proportionate comparison.

Like I said, they're wrong, but it's not on the same level as Ron Atkinson's statement, no way.
But their remark wasn't "there aren't a lot of women in football" and instead was baseless. I really don't know what you are saying.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Like i said. Penny-ante bullshit.
Am i suprised to hear they didnt UP the asking price as the tweeterista suggested? NO!

Am i suprised we offered a laughable derisory offer as I suggested earlier? NO!

Were a fucking shambles. Different dickhead with a pen same fucking shit.

I have no idea why we waste peoples time with this Nickle a dime shit. The bid is an insult to them and to us, would be better not to bid at all.

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Nesv say they are going to take us back to the top within 5 years, how exactly are they going to do that? Nuke Manchester and London? Decent plan but they'd probably bid 20 pounds for the nuke

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

Ajax want €30m for Suarez and we offer €15m and are cheap penny pinchers.
We offer £4.5m for Adam and Blackpool want £10m so Ian holloway is off his rocker.

our offers reflect the amount of money available for transfers our new owners are poor yankees like the old ones .

Re: Suarez paves the way for Anfield switch as Babel nears the exit door

There is no way on earth we have bid 15 mill. Maybe the first bid last monday, but not today. There would have been no point in travelling to Holland with that. Even we aren't that stupid.

Latest bid is rumoured to be 21 mill. Ajax wouldn't even talk to us if we hadn't upped the bid from last week.

Bullshit!

We'll need to replace him so who knows.

Maybe Ajax didn't want Babelman as part of the deal so we can go back with a wad of cash and get this thing done.
