Sturridge

Definitely, fans know this already...they're just quick to say sell him because we're playing just fine without him...but fans forget his influence on games.

He's 1 of few match winners in this side, he's our most prolific goal scorer at the club.

We may not rely on him as such but he's still the main man in terms of individual brilliance.
id rather lose Sturridge for the rest of the season than coutinho and possibly mane too.

I think you're mental

It's kind of awkward for Brendan to remember that Origi was scoring at a similar ratio before his injury at the end of the last season, any old bellends can see he's a good goal scorer.

Love him to bita when he's fit and firing, but he's not fit enough and rarely gets a chance to fire in our current set up as I'm not sure it suits his type of play.
Real shame as the guy is a world class talent for me. Can't see him being here next season, or maybe even this coming Feb.

It's kind of retarded to cherry pick a few weeks of a career and say that's what a player is.

As frustrating as it is with him being out all time...I refuse to believe Sturridge won't get himself fit and hit a purple patch this season, even if it's 6-10 games. Who knows what difference that could make.

I don't think anyone doubts he has the ability. The problem is even if gets fit for an extended period of time, there is no guarantee he'll get that game time. Heck he was fit for 3 months this season already and hasn't had a look in.
It's a very new experience for him at Liverpool. Previously it was only injuries that kept him out of the team. Once he got fit he was straight back in.
Now the team isn't set up for him. He isn't first choice, hell he's not even 2nd choice.

Cherry picking a few weeks? It's the last nine months...

Doesnt he have 9 goals in the last 10 games or something.
A goal every 134 mins. 17 in 21 starts. There is enough there to suggest he's in a good way as old Jurgen would say.

Does that 17 all come from starts and not off the bench??

Did anybody really suggest we sell Sturridge in January? Because that would make no fucking sense. Summer - possibly.

He might if you can't read. Or if you're a bit special.

He has 7 in 17 appearances this season.

Three of those goals are against lower league opposition. If you're trying to consider how good he is in the Premiership those are irrelevant.

Last season he had 10 goals in 38 appearances.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with what he is doing.
That contrasts a bit with what you and the other Chuckle brother are doing with his goal record.

I think those of you who think so highly of him and expect great things from him are actually stuck in the past. I am at a point where I don't even think he is part of LFC because he is hardly available. I mean lets face it this recent injury has taken place while he is hardly playing so if he is that fragile now - imagine if he was to played for 90 mins each game - fuck me he would be off after 3 consecutive games for the rest of the season. As for those of you who think he would fetch us 30M - you are fucking joking right ?- any buyer would look at his record of availability for games and think we were mad - his real value is probably somewhere between 15M to 20M and i am being optimistic on that valuation. It is also worth remembering that he has only ever had one season where he has done 20 goals plus in his entire career.

Oh - I get that he has those great attributes and I do appreciate it but its like having your best car locked up in a garage cause there is always a screw loose or some shit. Eventually you have to wonder why bother insuring it year on year and just sell it on to some enthusiastic buyer (hello China maybe ?).

I'd have sold him before now. Great finisher and all that but ...
That said, I doubt we'd get ridiculous money for him, 20M max. Why the fuck would you pay more? He isn't going to play half your games.

I'd love to respond but I can't be bothered. This thread is a decent one and a reply will result in the usual banning.
So just move on.

I'm still very much in the keep camp, but I admit he's a candidate to be sold in the summer. He's wages are far beyond his current squad status. I hope he turns it around but it is starting to look a lost cause. If we were to replace him I'd like to see a Tevez / Suarez / snappy, small, hardworking talent South American signed.

He can still make a big contribution to our season and is nearly ready to return, may be on the bench tonight. Madness to sell him now.

Wait till the summer when we have the time to get a proper replacement. Would be foolish to sell him in january.

It'd be pointless to sell him in January. If he gets fit he may be needed between now and the end of the season. All our players won't stay fit. His value is probably at an all time low now as well. Either way I'd be looking into selling him in the summer when we have more time to improve the squad.

He's got to go in the summer, especially if its coming into the last year of his contract. Although I'd not bank on him being able to make any appearances in the 2nd half of the season, if it gets windy he might beak a femur.

Why would it make no sense. I'm not pushing for him to go, but just how many goals has he scored this season? Yes, he's been injured, but that's one of the reasons he's possibly on the sell list. Yes he's not had much game time, but again, another reason to sell if he's not going to be played. And when he has been played....
Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of his, but there's a perfectly good argument to sell him and replace him in jan.

I am pleased for him tonite but there is no eonomic sense in keeping a striker on such high wages when he only plays few games a season and dissrupts the planning of our team.
