He's not mental, but he'll spend his money on players that fit into a front three. Wing forwards, false nines, other fancy bullshit caramel ice latte whatever. Which is all well and good when we're not up against the bus. The problem is if we sell Sturridge to fund those signings, we'll have nothing to resort to, no simple black coffee, when the new year comes around. New year is generally the time the other teams have got over their stupid delusions of having a good season and entertaining their fans, and begin their desperate bid to grind out a point every week.

That's assuming Sturridge is miraculously fit and raring to go when we need him. We are going to need a lot of good fortune next season.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean...we need more strong, black coffee in the second half of the season.

That's where we missed a prolific striker. Firmino played 18 times in 2017, and failed to score a goal in 14 of those games.

What he did do in most of those games is exhaust the defenders with his running. Then it should have been the perfect time to bring Sturridge on and make the most of his finishing ability, instead of bringing Origi on to give them a well deserved breather.

But at least your delusion will be ended in the summer transfer window, and I will then have that window to laugh at and abuse you for it. On the flipside, my delusion will sustain itself for a while longer into the season when he finally gets injured and is ruled out for several months.

This reminds me of the year before Daniel Agger retired when Barca were rumoured to be offering 15M for him, and people on here campaigned for us to keep him. He managed to play about 3 games after that or something.

The idea of Daniel Sturridge is better than the reality. He's injured, slow, and annoying. This theory that he can't be reviewed this season either is fucking bollocks too. He played plenty of times. He just did fuck all when he played. He wasn't injured - he was just shit.

Sell him.

Between Sturridge and CL threads, it's pure Groundhog Day on here at the mo.

Every time he strings 2 games together, there's a clamour to keep him. Then he's fucked again for 12 months. This isn't going to change any time soon.

He's on 150k a week. He's scored 15 league goals in the past 3 seasons. He's 28 soon. He's getting more pedestrian by the minute.

I'd take 10M to get shut of him (to be fair, you'd be insane to pay it).

I'd keep him and use him every 2nd week or so to ensure he stays fit and fresh. Unless we get an offer of £35+ mill, then i'd sell.

i can't believe so many people want him to stay. La La land. Yis are attached to the idea of him. not the reality.

He´s our best striker. I doubt there´s anyone who would want anyone else than Sturridge on a one on one with the goalkeeper.

There´s a chance we´ll play 50-60 games next season and if he can play in 20 of those I´m satisfied.
We won´t be able to sign a better player for what we can get for him.

But we do need to buy a top striker. Firmino doesn´t score enough goals but I do see what he brings to the team, especially against the "bigger" teams.
Origis only progress this season is one step closer beeing the new Heskey.

[article]Daniel Sturridge could be unavailable for England’s games with Scotland and France next month after helping Liverpool to cement a Premier League top-four finish.

The striker has a hip injury that has been managed during the run-in to the end of the season but now requires further treatment.[/article]

No, he isn't.

On account of his 15 league goals in the last 3 years combined.

Of course, that is a poor return, even if his well-documented injuries are the primary reason. But it's no secret that we do need to buy a proper striker.

In the final week of this year's Premier league campaign, Harry Kane scored seven times. Which is only 4 less goals than Firmino managed in the entire season.

He always plays/tries when he is after a new contract or when his future is in doubt. He comes back to remind us what could have been, what he can offer, then promptly disappear with some mysterious injury for months.

The 150k a week and 25million could be put to better use.

Yep, Kane scored more in a week than Sturridge did in 26 appearances for us this season.

Sturridge: 3 Premiership goals in 7 starts

Firmino: 11 Premiership goals in 34 starts

It's clear we need a proper striker, agreed. Sturridge is fucked by injury and Firmino has the worst goals/ minutes played ratio of any striker in the Premiership (who scored more than 10 goals).

11 Premiership goals all season! I think that's the lowest goal return for our main striker in Premier League history. Dismal, really.

I'm confused as to why Klopp favours Origi over Sturridge. I think many people would argue that Origi isn't very good. Why would he do this when Sturridge has nearly 1 in 2 this season.

Yeah, it's crap. If he'd played wide in a lot of those games it might explain it. Oh wait.
