His injury record was nowhere near as poor as Daniel's, had none of the mental issues relating to fitness and he went to a team who had lost out on the title on goal difference with the last kick of the season.
They won the league the year before that at a canter by 9 pts and either won the title or finished second every year as far back as 2006.
RVP just added the finishing touch that season to a team that had dominated for a decade.
Our current team are a whole different ball game where finishing 5th would be seen as an improvement, so yes its a stupid argument.
None of that is relevant other than RVP had a bad injury record, as does Sturbridge. He recovered, and well. As has Studge, for months now, and this shows that he may well continue. You're struggling to grasp that for some reason.

Now, you can bang on and compare stats until the cows come home, or you can just accept that they both had seriously bad injury records, and yet, RVP came good. As Studge seems to be doing and could well do.
If he can do it, what's to stop Studge, who has shown for months now that he's doing well and is past the 'mental' issues you mention? Not only is it clear that he can do it, he actually already is, after a long run in the team for England too, and yet you'll no doubt keep banging on.
