Could potentially miss the start of the Season with a hip injury. Not playing any of the games over the Weekend

I am shocked. Full on shocked.

It's the most unexpected thing that happened since The Lying Rag rose this morning

I'm sure it's not hyperbolic in the slightest to say, but I reckon origi will be our first choice striker by new year

I think he is first choice now. Less talented than Danny, but much less wasteful too. Sturridge will be an impact sub, at least until he shows some consistency and ability to work better with others.

It's a bit tired now isn't it?

But it's amazing how often it seems appropriate because people rave about players so prematurely on here.

There is nothing premature about raving regards Origi - if fitness was not such a big issue these days I would say we don't need another striker because we have someone by the end of next season or thereafter will be worth 50M+. He is that good.

I doubt there's another top player who is as confusing as Studge. You just can't treat a player that unreliable physically as an integral part of your team, and yet, when he is fit, he can look so gloriously classy you couldn't contemplate not treating him as an integral part of your team. I have no consistency on him at all.

I'm still in complete denial that his injuries are perpetual. Despite them occurring perpetually.

I'm still hoping even now he'll be fit all this season & be easily the leagues top scorer.

When he's fit & sit in amazement at how good he is.

Looking at it objectively it could be an extremely good thing that Origi is improving & mane is proving a goal threat so quickly, because we won't have to be reliant on sturridge upfront, but can at least afford him one last season to try to prove he can hold a regular place in the side.

Bar this one week he's at least had his first pre season since 2012, and been injury free for several months.
That must help in some way with preventing future injuries.

Yes, clutching at straws. But thats what you do with a player of Studges class.

There's a sense of doom about the club's relationship with him mid to long term, because, if he's regarded as the number one striker and yet he continues to suffer injury setbacks, then it's vital that Origi can step up and be a consistent goal threat whenever he's absent, and if he does step up and do that, then it becomes debatable how fair it will be to bring Sturridge back in. I guess, for a while, that will be good competition, but you can't shape a team round a player who is only likely to be available for half the full number of games. He ends up being an occasional guest star.

I don't see the problem. If he misses half our games, that's maybe £4m of wages down the drain each season. Big deal. That can be recovered by getting rid of true liabilities like Lucas and Moreno, not by getting rid of one of the best strikers in the world.

Studge should be the starting 9, as he is the best striker we have but for our system origi works better.

Yes, that's the problem. When a player is as good as Studge you shape the system to suit him. But you can't do that when he's likely to miss 50% of the games and your other forwards don't play the same way.

We have a lot of fucking injured players going into the season
Sturridge
Milner
Karius
Lucas
Sakho
Lovren
Ojo
Grujic

Have we overworked this preseason?

It's a problem which also often occurred at Dortmund under Klopp.

He tends to overpace pre-season trainings a bit.

Have you been reading Raymond Verheijen's tweets? Think they're a bit too simplistic, especially since we've just gotten ourselves new conditioning & fitness guy and nutritionist lady. Also the Karius injury was a freak incident after him and Lovren clashed going for the same ball.

Karius, Grujic & Milner's injuries have nothing to do with conditioning / training. Just freak match injuries that could occur to any player in any team (bar smacking Lovren in the head - though I think virtually any player would be willing to do that too). Whilst we seem to have twice as many injuries as other teams, it is probably that we have, yet again, just been unlucky. Ojo, Lovren & Grujic should all be fit for selection vs. Arsenal.

I thought Klopp wanted everyone in the squad to go through the same pre-season programme, which, he acknowledged, would mean the international players not being ready to play for about a fortnight longer than the others. Well that seemed to go out the window quickly. I like the sound of the new fitness regime - in recent years the players haven't looked fit enough for much of each autumn - but I just hope the stupid touring combined with the impact of the European Championship hasn't disrupted the plans too much. Hopefully Ayre's successor will ask Klopp what exactly he wants for the next pre-season and then look to maximise the commercial aspect of that, instead of following in Ayre's template of asking Subway, Standard Chartered, BetVictor, Nivea, etc etc, what THEY want us to do, and where they want us to fly off to, and then force the football plans into that. If I was Klopp I'd also limit those idiots at LFCTV to a couple of one-off sessions with the squad instead of allowing them to spend the whole pre-season with them, distracting the players every day with a succession of daft stunts to keep the website and TV channel chugging on. Sakho might have been easier to keep in line if he hadn't had that film crew sending him off on silly video assignments while the others were busy bonding. We can't go back to Uncle Roy's regular low key summer trip to Norway, but we do need to get back to putting football first in terms of summer planning.
