Sources are telling me that the club is close to being sold. A weird stipulation is that whomever buys the team MUST build the stadium designed under the supervision of Mr Hicks. He wants something we can all remember him by.

Sorry: Source confidential

No big deal. Good news really, it will save time with more designs and planning.

I'd say he owns the rights to the stadium design and wants to cash in on it.

Wouldn't surprise me if he also had some financial interest in who's chosen to build it.

If he can make this stick, fair enough, but that rather depends on how much pressure he's under from the banks. If they and a prospective purchaser both play hardball over it, I can't see that Hicks could ultimately insist.

sounds good to me

a) its a bloody good design

b) money wont be wasted (with us footing the bill) designing a new one

c) it will save time as the blasted stadium needs building asap

Maybe be he does.

But the design for an LFC stadium becomes worthless the minute the club is sold. This is his only chance of cashing in on it. Chances are both of them own the design anyway, because if I remember correctly it was the club that paid the architect bills, not either of them personally.

And if that's the case I'd be willing to bet the source is an SOS member / sympathiser / devotee, because since Day 1 for some reason they've always painted Hicks as the bad guy, Gillett simply being incidental to everything which is a little bit ludicrous.

Let's hope anyone interested in buying the club agrees with you.

I think if they could realistically look at the time frame of planning permission & then work out how much they'd lose/save by doing it sooner most buyers would look at it favourably.

Hahahaha!

Maybe another stipulation will be giant, bronze statues of Tom Hicks and his son either side of the entrance to the Kop

Fair points, but I'd have thought it depends on how much direct control Hicks would actually keep. If he wanted to be "hands on" rather than just some sort of figurehead, new owners might be willing to take an initial financial hit in order to get shot of him.

With "blow me fuckface" engraved under his son's staute.

ha ha

The way Hicks looked when he last attended a game at Anfield, he'll be 6 feet under ground when the Stadium is finished..

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of strangeness in this stipulation.

A strange stipulation would be changing the club crest to a picture of Dora the Explorer, or making the coaching staff wear top hats all the time.
