They're putting the massive roof thing up tomorrow, it's come on quite a way since last season though!

A 650 tonne roof truss will be lifted over Anfield tomorrow as the development ofLiverpool FC’s ground undergoes one of its most dramatic moments.
Starting at 7.30am the latest stage of the impressive improvements to Anfield will see a huge crane lift the giant truss above the iconic stadium and place it onto two towers either side of the Main Stand.
The major operation is scheduled to take up to eight and a half hours, with the roof truss expected to be released from the cranes after 3pm.

The work is subject to weather conditions but will be one of the most important - and noticeable - advancements in the work taking place on Anfield.
Beginning at 7.30am the truss will be raised from a podium and is expected to be level with the top of the Main Stand’s new steel structure by 9am before rising above it. Between 1.30pm and 2pm the truss will be lifted above the existing Main Stand, landing on the towers between 2pm and 3pm.
From 3pm construction work will continue to secure the truss and the cranes will be released.

The work will be latest development in the £260m expansion, set to make the Main Stand one of the largest all-seater single stands in Europe’s top divisions.
More than 5,000 metres cubed of concrete has been used at Anfield so far – enough to fill two Olympic swimming pools 4,800 tonnes of steelwork will be used to expand the Main Stand, almost twice as much as Blackpool Tower.
The redevelopment was announced by the Reds in December 2014 with plans to add around 8,500 seats, taking the Main Stand capacity to over 20,000 and increasing the overall capacity of Anfield to around 54,000.
The expansion is expected to be completed during the 2016-17 season.

Drove past the other day, those cranes are fucking massooovvve, huuuge things, seriously large beasts..

It isn't half coming along at pace like.

Is Tom and George's spade still in the ground?
I hope Pascoe found the receipt and brought it back to Halfords.

Must be just my local one then.
I went in for a bike light and came out with a spade and a mouse trap.
Maybe they're just being racist over here.
Are you Irish Leo? Do they sell pints and stamps as well?

My mate's working on it, they've re-concreted the main stand and put all new seats in. As a main stand season ticket holder he reckons if anything they're even smaller! I did not think that was possible.

Also, they were messing about with a footy in some tube and blew some cement over the pitch. They were gonna hoover up but the groundsman said they had to pick it all up by hand, so loads of them were on their hands and knees for a whole day.

Not exactly the most exciting stories in the world but it's all I got.

Also, the project director is OCD so people are always looking for him when meetings are starting when he's in a cabin somewhere re-washing tea mugs or trying to mop up a puddle.

Damn straight.

The old seats in the main stand were Wooden right?

Does anyone know when the pitch is being relaid? 3 weeks doesnt sound like long enough for it to 'bed in' or whatever..
