Didn't want to clash with the tickets thread.

Anyway, back to three upfront maybe:

----------------Mignolet-----------------
Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Flanagan
-----------------Gerrard----------------
----Henderson---------Coutinho-----
-Sterling------Sturridge-----Suarez-

Huge game this, win and we've either practically wrapped up third place with an 8 point gap, put the destiny of the title in our own hands, or potentially both. Please don't slip up here Liverpool.

In regards to the team, I'd be cautious about playing both Coutinho and Sterling, we don't want to lose our strength in the middle, despite Spurs not being their best this season, they're still a very dangerous team, hopefully Eriksen won't start in the middle.

Nope,

Gerrard Hendo and Allen in midfield. Or Lucas depending on fitness.

I don't think the midfield particularly dominated the game last night, it ended up at times looking pretty flat, which more or less invited Sunderland onto us, and in turn put the defense under pressure. At least with Sterling in there it gives our fullback on one side, some protection, it stops them pressing us on the flanks. And with Coutinho, it gives us more penetration from the centre and makes them ensure they drop one of their midfield back.

It worked in the away game.

Ming
Johnson Skrtel Agger Flanno
Hendo Gerrard Allen
Sterling Studge Suarez

Not looking forward to this game. Spurs are impossible to predict these days.
Losing to Sherwood would be horrendous and we'd never hear the end of it.
Will be tough but hopefully we'll get the 3 points.

Midfield is key imho. Win the ball and play it early and attack their high backline with pace.

Basically Sherwood just shouts at them and makes them go out and kick it about a bit. He's like that other gobshite Stuart Pearce. It will be a tough game as they have some very decent players and they will be smarting from the 5-0 home stuffing we gave them. Hopefully we'll lift ourselves and smash the shit out of them.

Does it matter? He's a young player and could be rotated if its benefitial for our tacticis.
He was very good attacking wise yesterday but got a bit lazy with his defensive duties.

Can see Rodgers maybe dropping Allen for Coutinho though.

Huge game. We have plenty of confidence and a win against an almost rival will really consolidate that. A loss could rock us at just the wrong time in the season.

Exactly, I don't think Allen has particularly made his position safe. It's horses for courses and all that.

id like to see 433 again, that diamond kind of nullifies our attack a little bit, well, when we dont score loads in it i mean

Remember that it is a different manager from the 0-5 and they now have adebayor up top instead of LOLdado and they didn't have Vertognen playing at the back either.

I think Sterling needs to start and that this will be at Coutinho's expense. Townsend will run at Flanno and he needs cover which is why I am making a big shout that Lucas will be recalled.

------------Mignolet------------
Magic--Skrtel--Agger--Flanno
------------Gerrard-------------
-------Hendo----Lucas---------
Sterling-----------------Suarez
------------Sturridge------------

The downside with Lucas is that he gives away soft freekicks around the box, which is playing into Eriksen territory.

Having watched Spurs last seven or eight games I wouldn't be too worried about them, apart from the Arsenal game they have been pretty shite for a couple of months. If we play to form I fancy a "Dirty Sanchez" result.

Here's an idea worth considering:

1. Rest Gerrard in favor of Lucas
2. Start Coutinho in midfield instead of Allen and add Sterling on the right wing

----------Sturridge----------
Suarez-------------Sterling
-----Coutinho---Hendo----
-------------Lucas-----------

This way any loss in defensive solidity and work-rate from playing Coutinho in Allen's position would be mitigated by having Lucas in Gerrard's position. Conversely, the absence of Gerrard's creativity and passing should be mitigated by Coutinho assuming the playmaking duties (and Sterling running in behind the Spurs' high line). Bonus #1: Gerrard won't pick up a booking. Bonus #2: we beat Spurs 5:0 last time with Lucas and without Gerrard.

Our line up last time around:
Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Flanagan, Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Suárez

Modo, do you think their lineup will be the same as last time around? Did we go to the Emirates a week after annihilating Arsenal, and play them off the park? Does the fact Gerrard didn't play last time, have any bearing on this game? You keep banging on about what we did last time, and in the next breath you're going on about not dropping Coutinho because of a MOTM performance yesterday. So which is it? Form? Previous games? Pretending the Spurs that turn up on Sunday, will be the same Spurs that we played months ago?

I'm not saying Coutinho shouldn't play, but all this emphasis on what we did here and there is irrelevant for the most part. We should look at Spurs on Sunday as another, solitary game. Study their recent form, study their current setup (which is far removed from our last meeting), assess our own players and work from all of that.

Play the same formation that's what I'm saying.

I don't see a reason to drop Allen or Coutinho unless there's fitness issues.
