Great game from the Oompa Loompa today, but lets not get carried away. It is the only game I can remember where I havent been disappointed with him.

not sure I see all the fuss about spearing - i thought he was average and still not convinced. too many times he looked placid in possession and made the wrong choice.

in just over 2 yrs we have gone from alonso/mascher to spearing/lucas - this is nothing to be happy about.

Suarez Liverpool Song (just can't get enough)

Let's be fucking honest; we got the absolute run around for the first 30 minutes. Lucas was getting murdered, Meireles was all over the shop, and Spearing hadn't even touched the ball.

We get gifted a penatly, and in the second half the game opens up completely and Spearing's got the opportunity to pass the ball for a change.

We were lucky. Very lucky.

Spearing does inject some energy to the midfield, and he does give a shit.
To be honest when he is playing well he brings more to the table than Lucas.

regards

I thought both the OhNo bros played well today, or maybe I just lowered my expectations
[/quote]

They were getting dryraped until Sunderland had to make two miefield subsitutions in the first 30 mins, and we were gifted a penalty.

First 30 minutes...

Jay Spearing;
Passes 9
Successful 3
Unsuccessful 6

Tackles 2
Successful 0
Unsuccessful

Interceptions 0

To his credit, it was an excellent run forward for the penalty/free kick.

I just felt he was being dominated for the opening part. Lucas too.

That's probably because they were.

Spearing is my new Alonso

In like a physical attraction way? Cause id really like to know what it feels like being attracted to a peanut?

I'm obviously joking.

And yes, we were getting battered until we got the pen, and no, it wasn't a pen. It was outside the box.

But a goal that bounces off a beach ball and goes in should never stand either, so whatyougonnado

I thought that at least the commentators I had were pretty harsh on the linesman. Yes the penalty was outside the box, but only just, and it's pretty ludicrous to think that there isn't going to be a significant margin of error on that sort of thing at full pace.

I guess, but to overrule an original decision you have to be completely certain about your judgement, even more so than if you were making the initial decision. This is next to impossible given the speed and the distances involved.

They'll be few complaints though. The beach ball incident was a far worse mistake because it showed a gross misunderstanding of the rules, which is highly embarrassing for a professional official.

The Sky sports pundits had 20 minutes to decide and come half time none of them wanted to commit fully either way.

Advantage to the attacking side and all that..

Quite. And we bossed the second half - Pepe didn't have a shot to save until very late on.

In the last six games Agger has played we won them all.

And kept 6 clean sheets..

Last year Bruce said, things happen, about the beachball incident. To see him speak about a bizzarre penalty yesterday was so good on so many levels.

Bruce, these things happen mate..

Indeed, but two wrongs never make right.

Although I still don't think he's got much to be aggrieved about,

Definitely worthy of another start.

Sunderland was a big day for him.

That he did well at The Stadium of LIght is even more satisfying because he sucked there (with Lucas) last season against Cana and Cattermole. Well done to the lad and hopefully that means Poulsen will be packed off in the off-season. Hope to see Shelvey and Spearing play well and establish themselves in the squad so we can save money on buying squad players in the CM department.

Cracking shot on his left foot too, takes a bit of belief to do have a crack with his weaker peg.
