Who gives? People play it down far too much. The treble season was fantastic and that played a major part in the whole euphoria, it was one of the best cup finals ever. I bet Arsenal wish they'd beaten Gala in 2000.

5 years since we won anything.

A 2nd rate cup is the Superman Cup we won which a lot of people still bang on about.
 
£4 on Kelly to score tonight.. last time I bet on one of our players to score was Lucas in Europe and he did so lets hope lightening strikes twice..

As soon as it was clear our CL aspirations were over I've wanted us to win this trophy.

At this stage we should be able to rest a few players and offer a few opportunities to the youngsters.

Will there be any highlights about? Won't be able to catch it.

We win and we're the most successful team in the competitions history, ahead of juventus and inter.

We've won the most league cups ever too.

Ok, it's not ol' big ears, but what's not to like about winning it? We'd be creating yet more history.

HA!

I'll celebrate. But it's still a second rate cup. There's pride in winning the European cup 5 times. 4 times as league winners. Still a tournament with the best teams in Europe.

Europa League is the next best thing. A tournament for the left overs. Teams that fail to qualify for the knock out stages in the CL. Even teams that get knocked out in the qualifying stage of the CL get a pass.

Reminds me of some cup competitions I played as a kid, like Gothia cup.
There's A playoffs and there's B playoffs. Europa League is B playoffs (playoffs for teams finishing 3rd and 4th in the group)
Even if you win the B playoffs you're no better than the quarter finalists in the A playoffs.

The only reason I'm watching the game tonight is to see some of the youth players and the reserves.

Not sure, but it shouldnt be too long hopefully.

Gerrard was being assessed as hopeful for Wigan, so it cant be too serious.

As for Agger, he should be fit a few days before he breaks himself at the next friendly.

though he looked lively all he really did was keep the ball or pass it backwards. can't see many goals tonight
