Southampton v Liverpool Match Thread

We can't say this every week though, it's not a good result if your main competitor wins and gains two points on you, how's that good? There's a long way to go and all teams will drop points, but over the course of the season, it's missed opportunities (like this) that teams usually rue.
Every team will rue dropped points somewhere.

Fact is we had very tired / jetlagged players, Lallana missing and we were away at a team that generally does very well at home. We should have won, 3 x 1 on 1 chances (Mane, Coutinho, Firmino) and Clyne heading a brilliant chance wide, but most people would have taken a point away at a tough opponent.

It's 38 matches so us away at Saints is not the same as Crystal Palace or Middlesbro or at home to West Ham, we had easily the toughest game of the top teams, bar Arsenal, today.

I missed a lot of the match (unusual for me) - Looking forward to the post match thread and reading though it. But humour a brother. How did we do? 0-0 against a good Southampton doesn't sound like a disaster right?

Not the worst result given the international break. Some poor concentration and tired legs out there. Played well in parts and should have won. Still cant believe Firmino, Clyne and Coutinho didnt get one of those chances in the back of the net. Ah well, Sunderland and David Moyes next.

we weren't that bad . A solid 7/10, just lacking the cutting edge in the final third.

not having lallana in there seemed to unbalance the side but coutinho looked half cut and matches post internationals' are never easy so all things considered a point isn't bad , just frustrating given we could have easily taken the three with a bit of luck

Lallana will miss another 2-3 games according to Klopp. Fuck.

As great as Lallana has been, I don't think we drew because we didn't have him, sure it might have helped, but we drew because we didn't convert gilt edged chances. Something which alot of people said would be a problem in "some" games, where you need something different and need to be a bit less suble. It's exactly why Sturridge and Origi should have been introduced earlier.

It wasn't a good result per se but it wasn't that bad a result either, surely. We didn't drop all the points as we might well have done in recent seasons, and not many will dominate Southampton at their place the way we did today. We know we have to keep improving but IMHO we can take encouragement from today overall.
Couldn't say it better. We played very well and drew against an excellent defensive performance from Southampton.

In the previous games our general play has dropped in quality when we've made substiutions and we were creating chances.
But yeah, Sturridge in particular should have been introduced earlier. Played well when he came on.
