Post Match Southampton (H) - 3-1 Sat March 8th

Subs and increasing the pace made all the difference. Well done Arne for recognising your first half errors !

missed all the second half. Did Harvey change the game??
He and MacAllister energised us at the start of the 2nd half so yes he played a big part in our revival. That said, we were not good today and needed 2 soft penalties. By soft penalties I mean that both decisions were probably correct but I’m not sure Southampton would get those decisions in our box.

Salah will get man of the match but he was very poor. Diaz was excellent.

Outstanding response in the second half.

Salah was poor outside of scoring two world class penalties.

Nunez scored the all important equaliser and won the pen for 2-1.

Diaz creates the equaliser and was heavily involved in the second.

Jota was ineffective.

Harvey and Mac were good.

Once Endo comes on you know we aren’t conceding, if bring him on after 30 sec on Tuesday 😀

100% win record in March this team just loves setting records!

Salah’s numbers are insane!

I’m flabbergasted at Salah making top three in the MOTM voting. The three subs made instant impacts and our intensity went up levels. They were my top 3.

The slow starts piss me off. I get that when we play a low block we keep the ball and try to kill their energy before striking later in the game. But after Wednesday and with Tuesday on the horizon we needed to go in for the kill from the off. That was insulting the first half.

Van Dijk looks mentally off it. The guy needs to excuse himself from the international break and have a holiday.

Diaz is an enigma. Was shit in Paris and shit first half today. Wank. Then turns it on second half. Blows my mind and it’s that inconsistency which will see us cashing in on him.

Anyway. I’m off the pub. Laterz.

Scoring game winning penalties relentlessly in a nervy title run in game when the rest of the team is playing shite is worthy of votes.

Doing it twice, even more so.

Goals win games.

I’m surprised i haven’t seen more noise around the fact the Saints goal was offside. When their player tackled Alisson the goal scorer was offside before controlling the ball then shooting.

Given keepers are usually over protected, I was actually surprised it wasn't checked for a foul on Ali.....there's definite contact and I'm not 100% sure the guy wins the ball either.....if he does, he definitely goes through Ali first.

I see the narrative after the game from rival fans were that we had been given two penalties and escaped a red card.

Firstly, both pens were correct. No doubt.
Secondly, that can never be a red card. Stupid and a clear yellow, but come on, never a red.

Thought the new ref was pretty good. Not had time to be infected with PGMOL shitness yet.

I think the thing that saved Nunez was that, being Darwin, his kick mostly missed its target.

I think we’ve seen reds given for less, and while I agree it was a yellow, I can also see how some refs might have given a red.
