Souness: Is he a twat?

Larry if you read his posts I think you'll see that what Macca is saying is that Souness basically just sat there like a big lump responding to Keys' loaded questions and basically telling us what we all know already. We have a weak squad and we have no money.

I dont think he was disagreeing with anything that he said, but if he ( Souness) wants to give us the bad news, that we already know, and which fans of other clubs gloat over, why doesnt he take the time find out and inform people of the good things are going on at the club. Good things that are in the main down to Rafa.

Nice one, The Lying Rag is shining. So what's my bias? I'm still struggling.

Go back to basics then. You said I was biased. About what? Where's the evidence?

Vanity? Kin hell mate, what are you on about?

Look, I'm not going to teach you to be aware of yourself. And after that needless insult before you know damn well it's a waste of time expecting an answer. Do that and don't expect anything. That's it. Finished.

Souness said he had fears about the club, so do I.
Rafa didnt need to respond in such a derigatory way in the weekly pre-match press conference

Focus on coaching your team Rafa and shut up.

So Rafa should accept criticisms from failed out of work managers who has barely won a significant pot between them, without defending himself?

He's absolutely right: True Liverpool fans know how good they are as managers and their comments shopuld be treated with the same contempt as everybody else who wants to put the boot in while we're down.

As for Souness, what can I say? It can be argued we're still recovering from his shambolic management. Is he a twat? No. He's a cunt.

Souness won three european cups and multiple leagues with liverpool. He can say what he wants.
[/quote]

As an ex player, he may have some right to talk about players but as an ex manager, no... he has no legs to stand on where management is concern.

The important question isn't whether he's a twat, because he is.

The tag team with Hairy Keys and Klinsmann is nothing short of odious.

The important question is whether he's right, because I think he is.

He's just a bit limited upstairs really, more than anything. He's a proud man, he'd like to think he had something intelligent to say, but ultimately, because he's fairly thick, he's just expressing his concerns very badly.

So where does that leave the rest of us?

regards

I think that everybody's getting a bit tabloid here, taking parts of the interview that they want to use to criticise Souness and ignoring other parts that don't help their perspective.

I listened to the whole of the interview. Souness was not talking as a bitter ex-manager but as a concerned supporter.

His comments were not regarding us not qualifying for the Champions League but his not being able to remember the last time we could not attract top players.

He went on to say that he was a Liverpool supporter. That he wanted us to win the FA Cup, the Europa League or whatever it's called and to finish in the top four. His opinion was that finishing in the top four was more important, and that was what was needed to attract top players.

But I suppose that bit didn't help when you want to call him a cunt.

Not many have questioned what he said, other than for its sensationalist presentation. What some object to is the timing and context. To do it on Sky, at the bidding of Richard Keys and in the presence of George Gillett's manager of choice, as was the case last time when he moaned at length about poor signings, was naive at best and served no constructive purpose. (And Lawrenson quite often says he's still a fan, but that doesn't stop him from being attacked on here on a weekly basis.)

And there speaks a man who I guarantee did not listen to the interview.

The presentaion was not sensationalist. Souness delivered his opinions in a concerned and considered way. He did not raise his voice, he did not "rant" he merely gave his opinion, the gyst of which was that if we carry on playing as we are, with players performing as we are, then he fears for our future. If we do not qualify for the Champions League then we may not be able to afford top layers and they may not want to come anyway.

I've heard much worse in the pub.

"And there speaks a man" who's sailed blindly past the point. The point is not what Souness said, or the way he said it. The point is where and in what company he's chosen to say it. Twice.

Let's have a go at Souness for having an opinion, one that looks pretty spot on right about now too.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh.

IT'S GOT BUGGER ALL TO DO WITH SOUNESS "HAVING AN OPINION". IT'S GOT EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HIM TAKING SKY'S MONEY TO VOICE THAT OPINION ON A MEDIA CHANNEL WITH A CLEAR ANTI-LFC AGENDA.
