Sooooo, Man City

I fear for Pacheco. He has been so hyped up that he probably wont meet alot of people's expectations.

He's 19 not 12

And he's quick, talented and skilful, and given how few of our players are any of the above, I think he should start.

But doubtless Rafa will play the usual shit plodders like Lucas, Maxi and Insua, because, as well know, 'pace isn't important'

*wonders whether this pic will make Ryans mancrush disappear*

He's really not that pacy, but given you think that fucking Alex is quick, fuck knows what falls under your classification.

Besides, he won't play, nor should he, so shut up.

Alex? He's quick enough. And as for Patches, I know he won't play, you bell-end. But what's the fucking point of debating line-ups when we don't suggest better ones? I do it all the time, and usually pick a better team than Benitez manages. Mind you, I'm not the one labouring under the impression that Lucas is a good footballer and that tubby cunt Insua is good enough toplay LB for Liverpool.

Didn't these Romanians btw draw at the Bridge last year? Or was it at home?

I think that was Clunje. I mean CFR Cluj.

You are right mate.

well, that will be the case so ho-hum.

Pacheco away to Man City. Right.

Barry, De Jong, Toure, Lescott and Richards would probably recognise it's his first game and go easy on him.

Great idea.
Sometimes Ryan, the best way to give a kid a chance is to just throw him in there ... Guess you don't think it worked for Insua, so that's why you're cautious.

----------------------------Reina----------------------

Carra-----------Agger----------------Skittles-----------Aurelio

----------------Gerrard--------------Masher---------------------

Kuyt----------------------Patches------------------------Babel

----------------------------Eggnog-------------------------------

If he had any bollocks, he'd play that team. It would win. He hasn't, so he'll play Lucarse and probably Insewer. And we won't win.
Wow - has Wash won you over, or is it purely the lack of other options?

Btw, while I don't think people who are raped are ever 'asking for it', that left side comes pretty close.

I missed the last 15 minutes of the match because I had to go for work, but Babel did more in 5 minutes than any other option managed in 65. I'm not sure if he deserves to start or not, though. It's worth noting that Piss FC had a 2 month winter break, so when the later stages of the game drew near, I bet there were pretty fucked. City won't be that laboured at any stage in the game.

I'd be inclined to play him in the last 30 minutes and persist with Riera. With regards to Patches, I missed his performance too, but I have been impressed with his cameo performances, and with Yossi still rumoured to be out, I think he could be valuable sources of creativity which is desperately lacking at the moment.

I'd play:

----------------------------Reina-----------------------------------
--Carra--------Agger-----------------Skittles---------Aurelio
-----------------Lucas-----------------Mascherano-------------
-----Gerrard------------Patches-----------Riera-------------------
-----------------------------Kuyt---------------------------------

Let Gerrard roam from the right and keep Carragher back to compensate.

At the moment we are sadly lacking a player who can deliver that devastating final ball.

In my opinion Pacheco could well be that player, but Rafa has seemingly been reluctant to give him a start.

I wonder whether Rafa's pride stops him from giving a chance to a player who did not cost us very much, because he wants to prove that his big-money signings can do the business?

I doubt it, Portly. As said, he's not played Aquilani much at all, and was very quick to get rid of Keane and Dossena when he realised they were bad signings. Rafa has many weaknesses, but I don't think that's one of them.

I think the reason Pacheco's not starting matches at the moment was hinted at in an interview last week. Rafa said something along the lines of: 'he's very good when he has the ball', implying, I suspect, that he's less good when the opposition have the ball.

Neither was Garcia. Surely we can have one "luxury" player in the side whose sole aim is to create without care - a kind of anti-Kuyt in the attacking third.

Are you pleading with me or with Rafa? As far as I'm concerned, Lil Dani can start. Although I'd feel more comfortable with him starting on the right, as he'd have Carra behind him - as opposed to another small, young, defensively suspect Spanish-speaker.

With Rafa, of course. One of my biggest frustrations with him is his uncanny knack of rewarding a highly promising sub cameo from a young player with subsequent dropping from the squad. It's even more galling when it happens to a player of Pacheco's ilk (and Babel to a degree) when we so lack creativity in the final third at the moment.

With two defensive midfielders and Dirk up top we simply have to allow the attacking players more freedom to concentrate on creative play.

I'd play Dani in behind the striker (Kuyt) and give Gerrard the freedom to roam the right side (with Carra behind him). We'd have a better striker (Kuyt>N"gog), a better right winger (Gerrard>Kuyt) and get a proper look at what Pacheco can bring to the table. Riera to provide the width on the left with Babel ready to run at tired legs.

Benitez will pick Ryan's team with Maxi on the left instead of Riera.

I think we'll send the crowd to sleep with a shitfest flat back 10 1-0 win. And I'll take it.

I know I would.

Haha. Pacheco, the 'anti-Kuyt'. It could catch on.

If N'Gog is to be played it must be 442.
I agree. As I've said before, he's quite good facing the goal, but pretty awful with his back to it.

Agreed. He looks more potent and is free to work the channels a lot more with support. On his own, especially away from home, he is easily isolated and the ball doesn't stick enough.
