Although easily my favourite at the Olympics Icehockey is hardly the third biggest sport in the world is it?

Although I must admit I find it hard to find that many sports that's supposedly bigger?

Football
Golf
Cycling
Tennis
Icehockey

And then there's sports such as Cricket and Handball who are extremely popular but only in few selected countries around the world.

Perhaps?
Apparently the list looks like this.

1. Football
2. Cricket
3. Basketball
4. Baseball
5. Rugby Union
6. Field Hockey
7. Volleyball
8. Ice Hockey
9. American Football
10. Rugby League
Based on what?

Tour de France is the biggest televised event apart from World Cups in football and the Olympic.

Both Tennis and Golf has got far more participants worldwide than more than a few on that list I would've thought as well?

The list you've copied is the one from Sportingo then? That's only team-sports related and seems more based on the authors subjective opinion rather than facts.

No way Field Hockey or Baseball is bigger sports than Tennis or Golf for that matter.

But personally I regard hockey as the third biggest sport in the world.

Hockey has got to be upthere at least I agree. Don't think I've ever witnessed a Cricket-game. They can go on for days can't they?

Tour de France is a majro event because of the 21 stages spread over 23 days. I wouldn't have thought it was the final stage that got the most viewers however - apart from the last rounds in Paris mind.

I can't believe that many people watch the closing ceremony of an Olympics, I've usually lost interest long before that happens.

Agree with that, but TBH it's never clear to me why anyone bothers watching any of the ceremonials anyway.
