Also funny given that his former team-mate Silva has just joined City.

Torres decision close - Iniesta

Torres: Now thinking about his club future

Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta believes Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will decide on his club future in the next fortnight.

The pair are still coming to terms with helping Spain become World Cup winners for the first time on Sunday.

But Torres, who picked up a groin injury in the final, now has to weigh up his options with regards to his club future.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the 26-year-old striker this summer as Liverpool cannot offer him Champions League football this season.

Torres only discussed his situation with Iniesta after the final, in which the Barcelona star scored the only goal in extra-time.

And Iniesta reckons Torres will be ready to sort out his future after a short break with his family.

"Fernando was fully focused on Spain and we didn't even talk about his future until last night," he told the Daily Express.

"He is going to take a break with his wife and daughter [after attending his sister's wedding this week], speak to Liverpool and take things from there.

"Any club that has him is lucky to have him. David Villa says Torres is the most complete striker in the world and his future will be decided in the next two weeks."

Torres will also have a scan in the next 48 hours to determine the extent of the groin injury he suffered after replacing Villa in extra-time, although the tear to his left adductor is expected to keep him out for up to two months.

Even if Torres chooses against staying at Anfield, the former Atletico Madrid man is set to stay in England.

But Iniesta, 26, insists he is unlikely to join his international team-mate in the Premier League, with the midfield maestro admitting he wants to see out his career with his hometown club.

"It's a league I love to watch, but I never have any intention of leaving Barcelona," he said.

"It's a dream of mine to play at Old Trafford - but as a Barcelona player and nothing else.

"I hope I stay for my whole career."

Also read a piece on a chelsea fan site, who obviously have a vested interest in what Fernando does, that according to one of our major sponsors they expect Torres to stay for at least one more season.
However there is a possibility of a "Ronaldo like situation where he expresses a desire to move back to Spain to Barca in a season or two.

Seems vaguely plausible.................

for some reason, villa and iniesta talking has worried me.

I think that is far from a certainty that Torres will be with us next season.
I am not sure if he even knows himself.

I think Torres will stay for one more season, at least. If we actually move in the right direction, he may stay longer.

I find it a bit strange though that Iniesta suddenly talks about Torres. Barca won't have the money to buy him regardless this summer.

Nothing's absolutely certain till the actual decision is made, but I'd be amazed if Torres left at this stage. For one thing I don't believe he really wants to go, and for another his lack of form and fitness will probably have driven any offers below the level at which we'd even consider them.

If Barca signs Cesc and Torres with Villa already there, Barca will be incredible to watch!

Torres won't be the force he is with Barca as he is in the PL. How many goals does he score with the ball moved quickly and directly? Dozens. That tippy-tappy shite doesn't play to Torres' strengths, and deep inside he knows that.

I wouldn't blame him if he went to Barcelona, though I'd hope he gave us one more season. If he goes to Chelsea, however, he is a fucking rat of the highest order.

When he eventually does leave, my money would be on him going either to Serie A or back home to Spain. I honestly don't believe he'll play for another Prem club.
