so we've spent money on...
lambert £4m
Can £10m
Lallana £25m
Ogiri £11m

That's £50m, add Lovren at £20m.

Suarez is going at £80m, but who else?

POTENTIAL DEPARTURES:
Reina 5 m
Assaidi 5 m
Aspas 50p
Agger 9m
Borini 7m
Lucas 7m
Brad Jones bag of sherbet lemons
Suso 10
Kelly 8
Toure free
Coates 8

Suarez ;-(

That's 65 plus Suarez...so 140 potentially..

Reina probably loan again
Assaidi 5m
Aspas 5m
Agger 9m
Borini 10m
Lucas 8m
Brad Jones free
Suso 6m
Kelly 4m
Toure free
Coates free

= 47m is all 11 are sold in this window (not likely). The only definite goners are Assaidi, Aspas and Reina.

I'm not sure Aspas will / can be sold - not because we don't want to, but because interest is probably low. I think it's more likely he gets loaned out for a season first as his scouting report last season would've been pretty shit. Why not try before buying if they could, since the queue would probably be pretty short for him?

Ditto for Kelly. I know Rodgers has said he'll get minutes but I take that at just face value. Again, he hasn't kicked a ball enough times in two seasons to warrant a club shelling out money for him, so a try-before-buy deal is more likely.

Might work well for us too - look at Borini for example. Had we sold him a season ago, he'd not be worth the 10m or 12m being quoted / demanded now. A season later, we're talking about potentially recouping the sum we paid for him. Same thing for Assaidi - one season out on loan when he's done okay, and now we're asking for 5m to 7m, which is a profit of a few million for us.

Paying extra 8M to upgrade to a top class defender entering his prime from one who has passed his peak about 2 seasons ago is a no-brainer.

Well, it's more likely to be about 10-12M difference. Still worth it.

Lovren would probably be on lower wages than Agger is though by a decent margin.

One concern I do have about Lovren is his appearance record:

2010/2011: 26 league games (Lyon)
2011/2012: 18
2012/2013: 18
2013/2014: 31 (Southampton)

Those two 18-game seasons are a bit troubling for a player at that age (22, 23). Agger had a similar thing - playing 27 games at 22, then 5 games at 23, though he then played only 18 games at 24.

Is that down to injuries or competition for the CB spots at Lyon?
With other games in Europe he's at 31 and 24 games.

Suarez, Reina / Robinson / Coates / Assaidi / Borini / Aspas / Suso / Coady / Wisdom / Alberto / Assaidi / Yesil / Agger (Napoli once/if we get Lovren) / Kolo (read he's on his way) ?

Napoli seem very keen on him. Wonder why.

Ogiri is £6m according to the Echo. Lallana is £16/17m up front. I thought Lambert was £6M ?

If we're going to say only include the "up front" part, then we'd have to include all the extra parts of previous deals we did, as I'm sure we're paying some on them. We structure most of our deals that way, so we can probably add another 10m we're paying this year for the likes of Henderson and others.

Obviously we can't get this exact now, as we don't know the exact figures or breakdown, but the easiest way is to account for all future fees due now. I think we should count Lallana as the total fee we're expected to pay over the next few years, which is somewhere between 22m and 25m, but definitely more than 16m.

2012/2013 was due to an ankle injury + a cruciate ligament strain from what I could see - cost him 13 games.
2011/2012 absence included 2 months in Jan / Feb but I couldn't find out anything about injuries. Not on the bench either I think, so I assumed it was due to them. That was what I found yesterday; if I have time I'll try to dig more and see.

ps. Oops I think I had mentioned this in the New Centre Back thread so I'll put up what I find out over there.

Everton will be in for Jones and Aspas then, they will probably throw in bag of rusty spanners if Ayre can wangle that one, probably end up 1 rusty spanner a month for 4 years or something like that.
