Etchy is right about one thing.

Ferguson will be roaming the halls as a ghost; because thats the only way he'll ever leave the job.

I actually like to see kenny win the league with fergie still in charge. he (fergie) would have come in with kenny in charge and liverpool as champions and he would leave with kenny in charge and liverpool as champions. perfect symmetry.

Satisfying though that would certainly be, I want the old sod gone a.s.a.p. As long as he's there, they're going to keep on winning things.

I don't think it really matters that much at the end of the day. The most threatening thing to the perception of the club (that's after all what we're talking about right? because our identity isn't derived from being *the* most successful club or some whatever record) is not being in the CL and not being known as a team that is capable of winning the league.

Our identity is derived both from our past and from our present. Saying we mustn't get stuck in the past is one thing, and we'd all agree with that, but dismissing its relevance altogether is IMO neither realistic nor ultimately helpful, as that's largely where our standards and our ambitions are derived from.

I'm not dismissing it's relevance at all - where is that coming from?

I'm just saying a record isn't the most important thing. Whether we're *the* most successful or one of the most successful teams in England isn't our primary concern right now. Getting back into the habit of winning is.
