So what would be 'success' this season?

6th and the Europa cup is th best we can hope for.

6th? We're 5 points off the bottom and look toothless away and nervous at home. We can't hold a lead, and can't come back when we go behind.

If he we get 6th then Kenny is the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ and I will put an image of him in Xmas crib scene next year.

I think that staying up would be a success for us.

Watching us, so far, this season has been like seeing two cars approaching each other in slow motion and knowing that the crash is inevitable.

Whether good old fashioned hard work and a positive attitude will be enough I doubt, we clearly do not have enough quality players and fewer still with the character needed to remain calm and confident.

I think it will be because there are teams even worse than us if we survive, not because of our abilities to move forward.

Kenny Dalglish and his team can put in the training ground work and give out a positive aura but they can't manufacture character or quality in the current squad; only new players will improve things and they aren't going to be signed soon.

We should prepare for the worst and hope for the best, maybe we'll get a break but we've been saying that all season. I hope I'm wrong but there seems to be an air of inevitability about it all.

We're also only 3 points off 8th. We're not going to get relegated, unless Gerrard, Torres and Reina miss a lot of games. But I agree we have to really start getting a few more points on the board.

The way we are playing, ie toothless and clueless says we should be more worried about what's behind us than what is in front of us Gerry.

The whole "too good to go down" argument didn't wash for Leeds or Newcastle. If we continue in this vein, we will go down. The confidence level from getting Kenny on board seems to have diminished significantly among the players and a little among the fans.

Of course a win against the Blueshite will bouy us but I'm sure no one will think that will drag us clear of the mire. We need to get a run going an quickly, starting Sunday.

I don't think that missing out on a Europa place would be such a bad thing. It would mean next year for atleast the first half of the season we can concentrate solely on the league giving us an opportunity to push for a CL place again and then start the re-build that we are on.

There is still a long way to go though and lots of teams are stumbling but a top 6 finish would mean that Dalglish would have to absolutely dominate the second half of the season.
