At the start of the season I'd have said getting back into the CL spots. Now we'll have to be satisfied with making it into the Europa League again.

Ditto

I couldn't care less.

Survival. we need a total reboot next season, so all I ask for is that this club is in a fit shape and able to compete next season.

Ideal/possible scenario for this season - top 6, Europa league.

I think i'd swap both the above for a CL birth and in all fairness, I've not completely wrote that notion of.. Atually no i wouldn't. .

Let's be honest, we've been absolute shite for half a season and we're still only 8*? points off fourth, that's indicative of just how yo-yo the rest of the league has been.

Anyone want to reconsider their answer?

There was a mental voice in my head whispering to me about 4th this afternoon.

I'm embarrassed for myself.

avoid relegation. lick or wounds, regroup and in the summer hire the best young hungry manager we can lay our hands and support him with a large transfer kitty.

this.

Dream: 7th place

Reality: Top 15 finish with a nice run in Europa League on Gerrard's back.

*cries*

our chances of a successful season ended last november. however in order for next year to be succesful all i am looking for is evidence that kenny intends to systematically discard a dozen or so players from the squad.

like today. now if in the next three games poulsen and jovanovic play a combined total of 0 minutes, and are quite obviously frozen out and treated as lepers to be replaced by shelvey, pacheco, suso, etc, then i will view that as a positive sign. in fact seeing kelly keep his place at the expense of johnson was a positive sign for today. that means more to me than 3pts. i mean we have fucking 25pts. what the fuck difference are 3 more going to make? its the little things that matter like kelly.

I agree with Dantes the only way this season can be a success is to give youth a chance. Can't see us getting relegated just because I think we still have a couple of players who won't let that happen.

Im not saying we are too good to go down just think there are worse teams and we can get points at Anfield under Kenny and our away form should improve.

Half this squad should be telling their agents to find them new clubs. The kids are alright.

As soon as I saw that Jova I new he was shit. Sometimes I wonder if I've got more of an eye for a player than our scouts sat here on my sofa? What the hell are they doing? Hopefully that is coming to an end.

That ship has sailed Bob, we cant start throwing youth players in now, it will fucking ruin them.

We need to play our best 11 players (in form) in their best position, if possible sign a couple of quality additions and limp over the finish line midtable. We need to identify and have the entire new struture in place (Comolli, Manager, Clarke etc) for the end of the season and Comolli and our scouts need to be finding and investing in the right kind of player between now and the start of the transfer window.
Ideally we do our business quickly into the window, we sign the players and we give the new manager a full pre season with a new hungry squad (at that time suplimented with Suso, Pacheco, Ecclestone, Mavinga etc)

And last but not least we cut our losses on Jovanovic, Cole, Maxi, Poulsen, Agger, Johnson and all those other players who are aging and being paid ridiculously for doing at best a half arsed job of being professional footballers.

Root and Branch stuff that will probably take at least a season and a half to bear any fruit.

agree with this.

Looking at the age of them however i dont think Pacheco and Saric should be handled with kid gloves quite so much at 20 and 19 they ought to be ready to make the bench.
I wouldnt mind seeing Daniel Pacheco in the Gerrard role from now, given that Cole is shite and we need someone of Gerrards strength in midfield.

maybe this would be good.

---------------------------------Reina-----------------------------------
Kelly---------------Agger-------------------Krygiakos--------------Aurelio
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------Gerrard----------------Meireles------------------------
Cole--------------------------Pacheco------------------------------Babel
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Torres-------------------------------------

Actually i quite like that. No Johnson, no Poulsen, no Lucas, no Konchesky, no Jovanovic, no Kuyt.......thats most of the muck out of the team.

Yeah fuck it. Kenny. SORT IT.

Gutted with Kennys team selection. What was he thinking? If Roy had picked that shit team the internet would explode.

6th and the Europa cup is th best we can hope for.

I still think we will improve vastly under Kenny.

Some strange choices tonight but I'd give him 4/5 games to bed in his preferred team before we even think of questioning Kenny.

I also find it laughable how so many now rate most of squad not good enough.

That's rubbish, the players are just void of confidence and when that happens even the best can look poor, eg Torres.

GJ, Kuyt Raul Agger Cole will all bounce back and with the help of Torres, Gerrard and Reina push easily into the top 8.

I like the fact that the players have no hiding place now. We aint coming for the owners or the manager anymore! We coming for you! Sack the squad!

Just think since there is nothing to play for, give the kids a chance. I dont think it will ruin them, I think its sink or swim, the cream always rises etc.

More than that I just dont think half of the senior squad are fit to wear the shirt and i dont want them representing the club.

I still think we should be getting top 6. Europa Cup would be nice too.

But if we're going to achieve it, we cannot keep fielding shit sides like today.

Would the championship be so bad? What's the worst that can happen? We’d bounce back up! Parachutte payments!

Thinking about it...Not that long since Man City were in division 1.

We will be challenging for 4th next year. I think we are over the worst of it & things are looking up.

Figures... 😉

Seriously though, won't be able to watch any of the games on TV if we're relegated.
Championship games aren't shown up here.

Dont worry Mo, its never going to happen. We are too good to go down. We can regroup in the summer & we will be storming back up the league next season, I can taste it.

Avoiding relegation is now a priority. We look much better on the ball but the results haven't changed.

Come on lads, grow a set!

Winning an away game?

Avoiding relegation?
Top half of the table?

European football?

A trophy?

Or simply our players remembering how to play football again, showing some passion and skill, and restoring the club's pride and togetherness?
What would Kenny have to achieve to make you consider him a success in his comeback season?

[/quote]

^...and getting rid of all the shit players in our squad.

It's a shame Rafa doesn't have a club right now, else we could have offered him Lucas and Kuyt for a bag of crisps.

Yep, staying up would be a bonus at the moment. We've lost 6 out of the last 9 games. We need to start picking up points fast. Derby on Sunday. Cosmic.
