I cannot see how Spurs or West Ham can move in there.

West Ham are going down this years and then I hear that the nearest seat will be 50 metres from the goal, what !!!

Spurs cannot move down there can they? How can you justify knocking down a £500 million pound stadium .

I don't understand why Liverpool didn't apply. I mean it's a bit out the way but you can't have everything

I do, I think any club that is given a stadia should have to have that stadia valued & that money they should have to pay to the other PL clubs the season they move into it.

Otherwise they get a fucking huge financial advantage. If Spurs move into this stadium they are donating 25m to Crystal Palace Athletics. A ground for 25m. Not too shabby compared to the 500m for most & 1bn it'd cost there with land included.

I'm sure you can get flights to London from Norway.

It would probably be good for business. I could see us selling out 70,000 every week if we were in London.

I hope that Spurs don't get it. Go WHU!

Neither of them should have it, they should keep it as an athletics stadium. Or play England games there so that the Wembley pitch is ok being used twice a year for the cup finals.

out of interest, what happened to the city of manchester stadium when city got it? surely that had a running track for the commonwealth games, didn't it? because it seems more or less ideal as a football stadium - it's a shame the olympic stadium wasn't designed better for easier conversion to a football ground.

FFF makes a good point re: the contribution any club should have to make. i don't care who it's to, but they shouldn't be getting a new ground for £25m.

Ignoring the issue of the UK's standing in Olympic circles if we go back on our word, I don't care if West Ham get it because they'll never amount to anything other than a second rate London team no matter how special their stadium is. Spurs, on the other hand, are a serious threat in the top echelons of English football so I'd hate to see them get it and enhance their prospects.

Man City conversion:

After the Commonwealth Games, extensive work was carried out on the stadium to convert it for use as a football stadium. Following the success of athletics events at the Commonwealth Games, the decision to convert the stadium into a football venue received criticism from athletics figures such as Jonathan Edwards and Sebastian Coe after their praise of the stadium,[34] but redevelopment was deemed necessary to give the venue a financially viable long-term future. Sections of the track were removed and relaid at other athletics venues,[35] and the ground level was lowered to make way for an additional tier of seating. The temporary stand was dismantled, and replaced with a permanent structure of similar design to the existing one at the southern end. This extensive work took a year and added 12,000 seats. Manchester City F.C. moved to the new ground for the 2003–04 season. The conversion cost in excess of £30 million, funded by the football club.[36]

Yeah, that was all sorted before it was built too, so the original plans took the conversion into account when the stadium was built. To turn this stadium into a footy stadium is mental, seats 47m from the pitch behind the goals? Fuck that.

so the poor planning of the olympic stadium is even worse given that they had a successful precedent to follow.

"In an open letter, Pele gave support to Spurs's plan to remove the athletics track if their bid is successful."

Am I missing something? What the fuck has Pele got to do with all of this?

I'm not personally bothered, but if neither offer from Spurs or West Ham are particularly attractive then they should do what they said they were going to do before the bid was even accepted, ie. they leave it as an athletics arena for the south of England.

Trouble is, though, if they do that it'll get too little use to justify the cost of upkeep. They have a problem on their hands if one or other of the football bids isn't accepted.
