When his resignation was announced, he said he would go at the end of the season. Well, has he or do we have to wait until the end of this week?

I'd have thought he'll be gone by the time the transfer window opens if Rafa gets his way lol

I wonder if he's having a leaving do? And if he is, I wonder if Rafa's going?

They broke the budget and got cheese and onion on cocktail sticks and one party popper.

Evidence then that he organised his own leaving do. Sad cunt.

Cheers Rick, some fucking cretins refuse to credit you with doing anything positive, and blamed you for every single thing perceived to have wrong at the club, including several that didn't happen at all

And yet while you were in charge, the club won every trophy available bar the title, and we have signed some fabulous players

I have no idea what good or bad he did but under his tenure we have not progressed and he is partly responsible for our being owned by complete cunts while he lined his pockets with a cushy job.

If he did his best then fairplay and good luck.

But if you know better than fair enough I aint arguing.

IMO the apparent foot dragging over signings and the owners situation and the undermining of Rafa.... that and United ascendance to Hegemony while Parry was in charge....

nah... Just because you work for Liverpool and are a Liverpool man doesn't mean you can't be useless at your job.

Yes, but some of the truly best players have been recent signings since the Yanks arrived and put some money up. I s'pose we have to be thankful for. But somehow I can't be seem to feel too happy that he ended up flogging us to them in the first place. I know that this doesn't make sense but you know what I mean.

Some months ago, somebody put up a long and detailed post about Parry from Dave Usher over at RAWK which said it all, painting a picture of a genuine Red and very hard worker who ultimately wasn't up to the (admittedly sky-high) standards needed to do the job as well as Liverpool FC requires. Now that he's leaving, that's all that needs to be said.

Yeah, if only you'd taken that stance about Parry earlier, instead of concocting the fevered, made-up, insulting bollocks that you spouted about Parry over the last few years

I still shudder at your contradictory and utterly inane 'agger contract' theory thread, which made you look like a totally mental cunt

Earlier Parry was still in post. No apologies for the view I shared with so many others that it was crucial for the club that he should not continue. The concrete charges I - and, again, many others - laid at his door were largely reflected in Dave's post. The only fevered, made-up, insulting bollocks involved has come from you doing your Tasmanian Devil cabaret act.

As for Agger, both player and manager had come out and stated publicly that as far as they were concerned everything had been agreed, and they could not understand the delay in getting the contract finalised. The Parry-Benitez power struggle was in full spate at the time, and even then I made it clear that I was doing no more than speculate. You were just too busy frothing at the mouth to notice.

I'd love to read a reliable account of Parry's time here. He's a great enigma. He obviously has some real skills, yet social skills certainly aren't included. Whereas someone like David Dein would look like he was enjoying the job and throughly engaged with the whole life of the club, Parry seemed eviscerated and utterly joyless, wandering around with a mobile phone stuck to his ear seemingly forever pondering another bulletin of terrible news. His performance during the Gerrard to Chelski saga was the nadir: never has someone at the centre of the decision-making process looked so painfully out of the loop. I hope he DID enjoy some aspects of his job - it'd be a shame if it was actually as miserable an experience as it seemed.

+ no new stadium = failure??

Judging people who effectively work behind the scenes is almost impossible - too many people forget that. For the most part, we, and the press, simply have no idea about what is unfolding at the club.

From my conclusions, Parry did some very good things while in charge but at the end of day, he's lost the faith of Rafael Benitez and that of Tom Hicks. Maybe this was because of self-serving reasons, I'm not sure, but given the tension which has has existed between the owners and Rafa it's clear something had to give.

Thanks for what you accomplished Rick. YNWA.

*shudder*

I know PR skills are probably low on the list of priorities for a CEO - we want him mainly to get the transfer business done quickly and shrewdly and expedite the stadium move - but poor old Rick was surely far worse than he needed to be. At Champions League draws he always looked gutted whomever we drew in the next round, at matches he looked profoundly depressed even when we were winning, and he had an amazing knack of making really positive news sound like a setback. It was always very odd.

I know first hand how shite and unwilling he was in capitalising on global marketing, particularly in a specific part of Asia (where there's lots of money).
He was shite at his job and I'm glad he's off. I sincerely hope his replacement won't be some thick cunt from one of the Gillet/Hicks family though.

I want the next CEO to raise the profile of the club world wide with strategic marketing, get the best possible sponsership deal when the carlsberg deal is up and 'somehow' get the wheels turning for the new stadium (this may be acheived by giving away naming rights). I thought parry was remiss in pretty much all the above, but fairs fair he signed rafa and made the signings of high profile players possible including the likes of torres and masherano but rafa pretty much constanstly moaned at the club dragging its heels and the signings that 'got away', so how much of the top draw signings were despite parry rather than because of him? well, we'll soon see with rafa now given carte blanche with transfer dealings from now on.

so, good luck with your new venture rick but I get the feeling the new guy will better.

Look at the stick Ayre is getting now for dragging us into the modern age. Parry's problem was he didn't have the balls to go against the bleating herd that demand we compete, yet drag you over the coals because what you are doing is not "The Liverpool Way".

He was not shite at his job.

He wasnt as forward thinking as some CEO's, but still did a better job than about 95% of CEO's in this country did over a similar period.

LFC was a relic in terms of marketing & brand image when he took over, he dragged us into the modern era & gave us, amongst other things, the website recognised by most as the most innovative & best club site on the net.
