I hated him last year, but after a few slightly promising performances this term, I held a small glimmer of hope that he could materialise into an able squad player for us - kind of like Darren Fletcher before he went and got really good. But an such fantasy has been slaughtered ever since, and Rafa's persistence in this anti-footballer is fucking mind-boggling.

I don't know why he's automatically the shitest player out there. I'll hold my hands up and say, he's got no fucking bollocks, there were times today when he had space to run into towards the box and he chose to pass instead, but he generally kept it tidy and kept things going, we need more that's all. He got his foot in and he did at least try to overlap more in the second half.
Mascherano has been far from perfect either, but both are victims of being too alike in terms of what they offer offensively. I've seen worse, but right now we need a better combination.
Insua and Lucas are far from the worst players we've had, so I don't see the reason for getting so triumphant about it all. Rafa's left us short of numbers and relying on two relatively young South Americans, who should realistically be learning their trade in the shadows with the occasionally thrust into the limelight. We can't afford that luxury thanks to a shite squad and it's costing us on every level.

They're not good enough for us at this point in time, Rafa's not had the greatest of seasons. I feel sorry for Insua because I think there's something there, and with defenders they can be forgiven for positional inadequacies, I don't think he's any worse than Warnock, who most still cream over and he does overlap fairly well. There's something there, like I said though neither should be in a title chasing side as much as they are, they've been ever presents through necessity, I don't particularly have a problem with the fact that we bought them, they're kids, shit happens.

How many chances did Lucas create? How many did he create against Everton? How many did he create against Debrechen? How many goals has he assisted on? Mascherano is a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER and the BEST ONE we have. Lucas essentially has Alonso's role and he's not bringing anything to the table with regards to attacking football. That should NOT BE Mascher's role because we all know he's shit at it. If Lucas can't do it, he shouldn't be starting. He's a very VERY limited footballer and if we need to rely on him to be a starting 11 player for any serious length of time, we're in trouble (unless of course everyone bar him is playing lights out and then, well the passenger becomes 'ok')
