Liverpool have decided not to activate their purchase option on left-back Aly Cissokho, placing Valencia in a quandary over the Frenchman.

Cissokho is on a season-long loan at Anfield from Los Che and has been handed minutes on the pitch to impress by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

But according to Spanish outlet Plaza Deportiva, Cissokho has not convinced and Liverpool will not pay €4m to make the move a permanent one.

Valencia are now looking to offload the former Lyon man elsewhere due to his high salary.

Indeed, Los Che are keen to shed Cissokho's wages, although it remains unclear where he might move to.

The 26-year-old has made 13 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, along with featuring four times in cup competitions.

The left-back, who can also play further down the left flank, has not managed to find the scoresheet.

Good. The fact that we didn't buy him straight off and get lumbered with him for time is a promising sign that we've realised how costly those mistakes can be

Is his loan up? Or is he still playing after we dropped this bombshell on him... I hope this means Enrique is back.

For Fucks sake.

Twitter isn't allowed but that bastion of truth, inside futbol has everyone clamouring over their facts.

He's nowhere near as bad as some of you think either. Enrique isn't all that

Does anyone know anything about this insidefutbol.com or Plaza Deportiva. I mean how reliable are they? Is there any substance to this "rumour"?

Should we even be discussing it?

Whenever I read your posts, no matter the subject, I always find my opinion the exact opposite of yours haha. Strange. He's shite and Enrique is well better.

ying to my yang.

I like the defensive qualities he brings the side. I cant wait for you all to moan when we get absolutely raped down the left side of the pitch once Enrique is back. Enrique at his best is a real threat on the break and generally when we have the ball, I don't think that strength would be properly utilised with the shower of talent we have up top now.

We'll see I suppose but I'd definitely not be adverse to getting Cissokho for a million or two in the summer.

Hahaha.

I think Enrique has been vastly overrated in his absence, as I have stated time & again, but Cissokho is way worse defensively.

Sides actively attack down that side & ignore him when he has the ball. That doesn't happen nearly as much, & not nearly as effectively, when Enrique plays.

I still want a new left back in the summer.

Indeed, we need a new left back this summer. Cissokho has contributed to us being 2nd with some decent matches but also some awful ones.
Not good enough

I'd be amazed if we signed him, he's the type of player it usually takes us years to get rid of when we sign permanently. Which is exactly what seems to happening with him at Valencia.

We certainly need a new left-back. Enrique's had a serious long-term injury, and god knows how good he will be once he's back.

Faouzi Ghoulam, who I'd mentioned earlier btw, moved to Napoli in January.

I've also been impressed by Monaco's Layvin Kurzawa, who I think is going to be really good. Best young-left back in France this season; better than Digne I think.

That's a strange assessment. Enrique's strengths are similar to Cissokho's. The frustration with Enrique is his dallying on the ball, but regardless he's way better in possession than Cissokho. It's a no-brainer between the two.

How many times have we ever been 'raped down the left side' when Enrique played?
I can't think of even 3 instances when someone skinned Enrique, as opposed to Charlie fucking Adam skinning Cissokho. Teams always work down our right side when Enrique's playing.
He's culpable of brain farts in games but is a fucking monster one vs one in defending at left back.

Cissokho is the epitome of the word shit. the sooner he's gone the better. I'm guess we may just flanno as backup to enrique next season. Defending is hardly seen as a priority with this liverpool team. Rodgers just seems focussed on scoring goals.

For 4 million though we could do a lot worse.

For all his faults I think he has been decent defensively..
