I think Klopp’s done an amazing job in the transfer market. How he’s turned a piss poor Suarez and Sterling-less attack into one of the best in the world in a couple of seasons is incredible, with the addition of Salah and Mane, as well as the positional switch of Firmino.
I still don’t get the reservation some have of VVD. He’s absolutely one of the best defenders we could have gotten.
Loss of Coutinho hurts like hell of course.

He has undoubtedly done well but it always feels like one step forward and two steps back to lose a player like Coutinho. If you can't adequately replace them then the net spend is meaningless.

This puts huge pressure on Klopp to bring in a player that keeps us in the top 4.

There's not a single name on that sold list I disagree with (including Coutinho), when you look at the fees for Benteke, Ibe, Allen, Sakho, Coutinho; that's excellent business on the club's part, I never in a million years thought we'd come that close to recouping the fees on Benteke and Sakho!

We've consistently tried to buy players for top fees over this period, we've failed a couple of times (Lamar and VVD in summer) but have also succeeded at other times. We've just broken the transfer record for a defender, a few months after trying to spend £10m less on him and whacking in a £75m bid on Lamar; we are hardly being left behind here.

Manager who is less willing to just throw big money at second/third/eighth choice players.
Players who want to join LFC over rivals offering more money.
