Just because Lucas was bad, doesn't mean he was the only one.

Why the fuck are we bandwagon jumping etc this early in the season?

There's another 30 games to go, whereby we can amass another 90 points.

We could easily win it with only another 20-25 of those games and all some of you can think about is blaming fucking Lucas?

Go fuck yourselves.

I dont think i am guilty of having a go at Lucas at all this season, but the time has come to give the lad a week or two out of the firing line. If Aquilani isnt fit then Gerrard needs to play in there for now.
Lets just give him a breather and see where we go.

Lucas was not our worst player on the pitch today, not even bottom 3 for me. Some people need to start thinking about the team rather than focusing on the persecution of one improving player.

Ps-This could easily have gone in the Lucas thread.

But rage can put rafa in this thread...

Maybe yeah.

But it's not really directed at Lucas.

scapegoats kind of implies that they're not the reason why we've lost every game this season where we've played anyone half decent.

so what would people say the real reasons are and what our beloved tactical genius of a manager is going to do to fix it.

oh i'm liking my new picture by the way, who do i thank for that?

Because we are all looking at solutions to improve and he is the no1 target as he is playing in the pivotal role.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Mascherano overestimates his own ability on/with the ball? Those long range shots that never seem to trouble the keeper, those attempted long range passes that seldom reach their targets, that attempted dribble yesterday. Like someone said in another thread (and like I was saying in the move just before he was robbed of the ball), there was a short pass to Lucas (who could then have switched play onto the left) that he could have made, instead he attempted to dribble.

There is more reliance of Mascherano to produce something because he's partnered with Lucas instead of Alonso.

It seems harsh to criticise him for trying.

I can't fault the effort, but trying too much is not his friend. He doesn't have the passing ability or dribbling ability. He used to know that but now he's trying to overcompensate and it's detrimental to our play

As I've said before, everyone gets caught doing something like that every other game or so, including Gerrard. Unfortunately it cost us a goal.

Oh I completely agree but you can understand his point of view. When most of us are bleating on here the Masher/Lucas combo doesn't seem to work, I can't necessarily blame him for trying to force the issue sometimes.

It's a part of his game that needs huge work, unless of course he goes to Barca this summer.

On a slight tangent though still relating to scapegoats etc, does anyone read the comments by "fans" in response to the official LFC posts on facebook?

The bulk of these people are staggeringly stupid.

I think people need to have some balance
a) we haven't even played ten games yet
b) players like gerrard will improve
c) when we win we aren't the best
d) when we lose we aren't the worst

Yeah I've noticed that too, even worse though.. Go on one of those pages for "XXXX should die in prison" or similar and the people on there putting the world to rights can barely string a coherent sentence together.

official sites are best avoided in my experience.

I agree that the bile spewed towards some of our team after losses is insane, and I don't even read some of the nonsense on this and other sites at times.

But I do also feel that many people are too quick to go the other direction... It's ok to discuss the games and point out the poor performances of some of the squad, if warrented. And if the same people come up becuase they frequently perform poorly, so be it.
