Saviola - Liverpool could offer 6 million euros for Saviola
According to the site 'Calciomercato', the deleantero argentino del Real Madrid could stop at the English club to be paired with Fernando Torres

AS.COM | 11/06/2009

Javier Saviola, Real Madrid striker, could be one of the first players to leave the discipline of all white. According to the Italian website 'Calciomercato', which publishes the offer, Liverpool would be willing to pay 6 million euros for the player Madrid. He adds that the coach Rafa Benitez Spanish striker would have 27 years of the Argentine ideal companion for Fernando Torres in the attack of the 'Reds'.

Saviola would be well in the Spanish League after passing through Barcelona, Seville and Madrid, and have not met the expectations generated after its signing by the Catalan club, who came with the poster of future star. In Real Madrid, has not had the opportunities and will be expected of a player to leave the white discipline.. Furthermore, shared clothing with his compatriot Javier Mascherano to the English club.

He's only 27? fucking hell, feels like he's been around for ever.

I'd not be against a punt providing we bought in the classy wide man first.

This was strongly rumoured in january.
I like him a lot. He'd be excellent.....buuuut he plays in gerrards position.

how long is it since he's even played a game of footy? i've never seen him play but know he was highly rated once upon a time. who's seen him?
Me. He's ace. Not the quickest but great touch and a cool finisher. Plays in a 2nd striker role. I like.

a back up striker on the cheap? it's a worthwhile investment.

not sure if he could 'lead' the line if torres was injured but considering the price and the quality (i don't think he's ever had 'great' goalscoring stats though), it should be a good pick up.

He definitely has a huge amount of ability, but he's a borderline midget, if Silva's is gonna struggle with the physical nature of the Premier League Saviola could be butchered

A risk even at 5 Million

The cunt scored against us in Europe a few years ago after handling the ball. Great little player though.

I think he'd be perfect for us.....we've all been crying out for a back up striker since Fernandos injuries and for 6 million we know Saviola can get goals, he's played on the left of a front 3 at Barca before aswell so it shouldnt be a problem for him to go out wide.

But did a retard write the article??

Saviola's a decent player, but not what we need. The only position he can play, really, is no10, and Gerrard's doing the best job in world football there already.

He scored against us for Monaco, skully, don't you remember?

what year was it?

i started watching footy, again, when rafa joined. totally missed the houllier years.

I've always thought he was average. Rafa obviously wants someone who is willing to sit on the bench for the majority of the season and not rock the boat.

Definitely under Rafa. Maybe even the season we won the CL.

i'm probably the least arsed about football out of anyone on this site. i stopped paying attention when i was about 14 'cos i started liking sex, drugs and rock instead. i only got pulled back in from playing pro ev with my mates and then i started working weekends and had the matches on the radio. i really liked alonso. we then went on to win the champions league and it was frigging awesome.

Wouldnt mind Saviola, can play as a striker or in the hole. Shame we didnt get him on loan in january, the worry is what kind of state he's in and if he can cope in the Premiership. 6 mill euros is a bit much for a striker that cant get a game to save his life and has a year left on his contract.

Fuck it, I'd take RVN as a back up striker if the rumours of his exit is true.

Can Saviola play as a lone striker?
Can he play on the wing?

No to both so why bother wasting the dough.
Agreed.

Good point.

Mercenary of the highest order but a good player.

He's extremely slight, so there are question marks over whether he'd do well here in the Prem, but at the right price (i.e. next to nothing), he'd be a decent punt.
