It's gonna be a relegation battle this season boys. 17th position is our new title! I am 100% that uncle Roy"hot dog"Hodgson will deliver that. All hail new Anfield saviour Hodgson in his masterplan to deliver the title to Anfield.

the only reason roy made a sub on 60 minutes was we were 2-0, when we got back to 2-2 look at the subs he made, he was desparate for a point when all three points were there for the taking. the reason roy has 4 away wins in two years is because he doesn't play to win away from home.

Gutting, after coming back from 2-0 down, but in all honesty we didn't deserve anything from the game.

True

What a fucking awful post.

The player we miss is Hyypia, not Mascherano.

play the greek. he's the only centre back we have that can head the ball. if grandpa had any balls he'd give it a go and drop carra and play the greek next to agger

Yep.

Everything should be different after 3 months, no money, and inheriting a shit squad.
the whole idea of a new manager is to improve things. And he has a decent squad. 16th in the league. Should be doing better.

we weren't ok in the second half. we got lucky with two set pieces from a torres run.

we have some really good players on this time. Meirles, Cole, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, aGGER, sKRTEL, we should be doing better.

looking at meireles' performance today, only roy knows why he took him off. roy has been here 5 games and I'm getting sick of him already.

I think Carra + 1 is dead. The man's knees are gone; he can't jump, he was a full foot under Berbatov for that goal. He still has a role for our team playing wise but he needs to start passing on his experience to Kelly or Wilson or Ayala or who ever is gonna replace him. But we were awful all around today and that game has made me give up on Maxi lets get him to the glue factory and use Amoo as Kuyt's understudy.

yup - carragher was to blame for this goal, and torres for the other.
I agree totally with this post. Benitez did the same things constantly. We don't play to win we play not to lose, we make negative substitutions, taking off a creater for a grafter. I hate it. It's spineless and gutless and we get what we deserve time and again. We are mentally weak. It shows in how we start games.

Hyypia, Xabi, Mascher, Yossi, Riise... they'd all walk into our current side.

Yes, how many times has a Liverpool manager faced two top four teams and the richest club in the world in the first fucking five games? Fucking shite post.

We're crying out for a big centre half. Carra got pissed on by Berba, and we look like conceeding every time a cross is hit towards our box.

I've said it before, sell either Agger or Skrtel and get a big centre half in.

Three if you include Citeh

I'm gutted *how* we lost. After getting back to 2-2, we fell back into our old ways and invited United to attack us. They had a good 10minutes spell leading up to the winner, where we just seemed to lose our heads and whack the ball away aimlessly, inviting them to start another attack.

I'd have preferred if we'd lost the game 3-2 getting counter attacked as we looked for the win ourselves. After all that hard work, we just threw it away in the end.

P.s. Side note - Howard Webb bottled a big decision today. John O'Shea who sets up the winner shouldn't have been on the pitch. A blatant red card offence.
There is definitely legs in that Wilko. Facing United and Arsenal plus the richest club in the world who spent 200m in summer is really tough on us.
Birmingham is always a tough game so anyone expecting an amazing start is deluded, but there are worrying signs of intent already showing.

Well said. And we'll just more and more of this. As you say, if you have to lose, lose going for the win.

it's not the results is the attitude. against brum, city and manu we played as if we wanted a point, no ambition whatsoever, that is what is pissing me off more than anything else.

Agger was to add height at the back for crosses.

Jova was because Raul was tired and to get some legs on the left where United looked most dangerous.

Look, it wasn't the subs that cost us. They made sense. It was the mentality of the players after coming back to 2-2, we took our foot off the pedal and invited United to regain control of the steering wheel.

I disagree Andy. If the team we saw today, with maybe Kuyt on for Maxi, gets to play together for a while. We'll see some good football and pick up a lot of points.

We really need to adress the centre back situation though.

Regardless of who we played, its our worst start in 18 years.

Roy looks more like he is content to contain the opposition instead of getting us playing our own game.
As I said in the week, I'm not worried about the team or the players. The manager started from a position of scepticism and apathy and has quickly worked himself up to intollerance and disenchantment.
Those games that he has had to nod to as 'a tough start' have been and gone, we didn't do anything good against the teams we faced, and we need to now show that we hadn't hit the ground running.
