Sakho cleared of doping by UEFA

I'm happy he's been cleared, but this is a bit of a farce, why did we ever suspend him?

I really feel for Sakho. If France beat Portugal it will mean he's been robbed of a Euro winner's medal - and he was a starter for France too. There is absolutely nothing UEFA can do to compensate for this.

Bloody hell. What a joke. Was there even any need for us to ban him? I get the whole showing how seriously we take it lark, but really?

On one hand i'm gutted for him that UEFA are a bunch of corrupt incompetent poor excuses for a governing body.

On the other hand i'm thrilled for him, shame on those who called for his head....you're not true fans if you can't stick by our players.

Quality defender and a proper role model for this football club.

The substance Sakho took was NOT on WADA’s banned list & WADA did NOT even attend in person but merely sent written submissions (Paul Joyce)

Thanks uefa for costing us of the Europa league title

Kolo was our best player in the final, so I don't think Sakho's absence cost us. However, it definitely cost him a place in his national team at the Euros. If they win on Sunday, it will be even more painful for him. Sakho is a classy bloke and he will probably get through this with his head held high, but he must be fuming inside.

BTW I think I heard Sakho chants from the fans at the friendly tonight.

Toure was our best player in the final and would not have played if Sakho was available. He has much right to feel personally aggrieved than we do as a club.

Will be interesting to see what Klopp does with him now. There's definitely a player in Sakho but he requires a lot of coaching.

But he still did take a substance that was on UEFA's banned list.
It shouldn't have been, but it was and he took it.

Would he win if he sued them?

He may win a months wages. Doesn't even begin to compare to what its cost him. The only reason to sue is for vengeance really, and with someone like me on the case then uefa would cease to exist.

Oh, actually looks like the substance wasn't on the banned list.
They found traces of fat burner in his sample (he's a dickhead for taking it) but that was it. The fat burner contained nothing from the banned list.
Wow.
@dantes you should be able to take UEFA down with that.

UEFA probably said to him in private:-

"Ah look Mr. Sakho - we got this all wrong - we will put out a statement to say you are innocent, but only on the condition that you don't take any action against us that would imply that our actions caused you to miss a Europa Cup Final and Euro 2016 - so deal yah ?"

Sakho - "yah ok Mr. UEFA, and thank you Sir"

I am guessing that in the next few days Klopp will have to have a difficult talk with Sakho to tell him he will not be the starting CB for the season. There are several subtle clues to this - the way the club distanced itself from Sakho's PED investigation and trial (I would think they would be more vocal if someone they considered a key player was caught up in this), Klopp's always complimentary talk about Lovren and the rumors of him being given the captaincy, even the way the gaffer answered a question about Sakho last night: I would say that the hard part is over, but I need to talk to Mama first...

One phrase that really stuck with me from Klopp's first interview arter he was appointed, was that in football, just like in life, you need to "build from the back", to ensure you have a solid foundation before anything else. It's clearly a fundamental belief for Klopp that transcends football, so he is certainly not likely to go into a season with any kind of sense of uncertainty about his first-choice defensive partnership. In his time in Dortmund one of his first orders of business was to settle on a new CB partnership of Hummels-Subotic which remained unchallenged throughout his time there (it helped that they were fucking great). He did have a very capable 3rd choice CB in Felipe Santana (who many considered to be the best 3rd choice CB in the Bundesliga) and he would always perform well whenever one of the first-choice pair was out injured - the question is whether Sakho is OK with such a role.

It's clear that Klopp wasn't at all satisfied with the state of our central defense when he came in - that's why the contract of Matip was negotiated already in January. I also don't think that he completely trusts Lovren yet - maybe that's why we've been monitoring a number of young, potentially top class CBs this summer - but over the course of last season Lovren has been the more consistent of all our players in his position, so it makes perfect sense that Klopp would select him over Sakho or anybody else to partner Matip, at least until some new young superstar defender can be found.

Obviously all of this is just reading the tea leaves at this point and it remains to be seen if things pan out in the way I'm predicting. But I would be surprised if Matip-Lovren is not the starting CB partnership next season.
