Giggs: Liverpool legend is my hero
Manchester United’s longest serving player Ryan Giggs has revealed one of his football idols to be Liverpool legend John Barnes.
Giggs told Inside United Magazine: “I always used to look out for left footers and John Barnes and Diego Maradona were always the ones that I looked up to when I was a kid.â€
“Barnes because he played in the same position as me – whenever Liverpool played United in the 80’s I’d watch John Barnes pretty closely.â€
“During that period, at the end of the late 1980’s he was probably the best and most exciting player in Britain.â€
In addition to Barnes, Giggs also reserved special praise for Argentinean idol, Diego Maradona.
He said: “And Maradona just because he was such a great player.â€
“I remember Maradona in the 1986 World Cup. That goal he scored against England – not that Hand of God goal – was absolutely amazing.â€
One of the very few manc players i've ever liked.
