Rooney doesn't play in Gerrard's position either, Rooney and Torres is a much more valid comparison.

Gerrard has played in a variety of positions over the same time period, RM, CM, AM, even CF. He did very well at every position.

Fair enough, but I think Rooney has shown more that he is being played "out of position" in midfield, to accomodate other players, whereas Gerrard hasn't.
