Messi's acceleration is part of what makes him so unstoppable - by the time defenders realize what's going on, he's past them. I don't know about top pace, but I wouldn't be so sure Ronaldo has a faster acceleration and if he does, it most certainly isn't by a street.

I am a huge Messi fan and can't think of a reason as to why he wouldn't succeed here in England other than failing to settle (plus I'm not sure the cold weather would do his hamstrings any favours), however I can understand why some might have reservations I guess.

Granted his team won the champs league, and he scored a boat load of goals against the relegation fodder, BUT, if you'd have watched Messi last season, and what he did against top opposition over and over again, you'd see why he was the better footballer last season.
