Jesus. 80 fucking million.

Ronaldo off to Madrid?.....yes, yes he will

Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano claims the club are already in negotiations with Manchester United over Cristiano Ronaldo, describing the winger as a ''great professional''.

Reports in Spain suggest that new Madrid president Florentino Perez has been in talks with the Premier League club and are on the verge of breaking their own world record transfer, in euros terms, set just a few days ago for Kaka, to bring Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.

Valdano's comments will only serve to add fuel to the speculation that the Spanish giants have upped their efforts to sign the Portugal winger.

''I can't answer any questions about him,'' he told TVE. ''I can only talk about players who are on their way here, not about those we are in negotiations over.

''He is a great professional, he dedicates a very great deal of time to his work. He is a great footballer and a very good professional.''

Ronaldo has been enjoying the close season, spending time in Sardinia and Los Angeles. The 24-year-old obviously enjoys the trappings of his fame, but Valdano insists he is still the perfect player for Madrid.

''According to the information we have managed to obtain, he is an excellent professional,'' he added. ''You don't get the player's body he has, which is a footballing advertisement, without working a great deal.

''Another thing is that his reputation as an officially good-looking guy, and a social or advertising model, blurs his image a bit. He is a great footballer.''

Speculation has been rife in the Spanish capital about new arrivals at the Bernabeu ever since the return of Perez, who presided over the famous 'Galacticos' era at the club.

And while they are reportedly ready to pay 89m euros for Ronaldo, Valdano has revealed they will not break the bank for Valencia striker David Villa.

''He is an excellent striker but he has a prohibitive price,'' he said. ''He is a player who interests us, but only at a reasonable price.

''There's a long way to the start of the season and the summer is very long - these comings and goings will be very interesting.

''They have written about hundreds of players who dream about coming to Real Madrid and it's logical that one of those will end up in the side.''

At the end of the day, despite being linked with dross like Downing and any other hideously shite footballer, Scum losing Ronaldo will be fantastic news for us.

Ribsy has declared he's not interested, so I assume Valencia will be their top replacement target, hardly a reason for us to shat our pants.

I think it's going to happen this summer. He's looked moody and uninterested all season, and I'm sure his agent has been advising him to 'burn some bridges' with Ferguscum (towel throw, tactics criticism etc) to edge him closer to the exit.

p.s apologies for discussing this greasy cunt, but it sure beats some of the drivel threads we've been forced to read over the last week.

Dont know what way to feel about this one, getting rid of the greesy one is obviously good, but £80Million is some cash for Ginsoak to improve his team, I mean he could snap up Villa and Benzema and still have loads of cash to bolster his central midfield, still I suppose its a disturbance to the squad and along with losing Tevez (hopefully) and having to bed down replacements there's a chance they may be unsettled at the start of the new season.

80m.. the boy wins games by himself for them.. lets just hope Fergie signs a couple of Nanis' and less Riberys'. With Tevez seemingly on his way out, i wouldn't be suprised if they signed Ribery and Lavezzi. Both similar players with pace and ability.

Oh, one bad point though, is because of the price Fergie's net spend will look ridiculously good now. United fans will no doubt now say he hardly spends any money. :🙂

This is great news. Heres hoping they get another Veron.
Only losers talk about money. I've never heard a united fan/player/manager mention it untill our fans/players/manager did. Fuck spends net or gross. WIN.

Maybe Glazer will use the £80m to pay off some of their debts instead? I think this is good news for us, whichever way you look at it. Aside from Gerrard and Torres and Messi, there isn't a player in world football who can do more damage on his own than Ronaldo.

I'm a bit baffled by Real playing hardball over the price tag for Villa though. Why is €50m for the most clinical striker in the world 'excessive' when they're prepared to pay more than that for Kaka and Ronaldo?

Because they know they can get Villa "cheap" as Valencia need to sell more than AC Milan or Man Ure.

Hope your right brother, I just worry about the times we were at the top and let stars like Keegan and Rush go and it didn't effect us all that much without reciving a ridiculous amount of cash for the deals, a Veron, a Kleberson or two and another Berbatov would go down a treat

Just got your text there Andy. Yeah, here's to hoping its a few Nani's, Veron's etc and not Rooney and Ronaldo's.
Praying they don't sign Ribery. I would hate to have to start hating such a sublime player.
Because the names Kaka and Ronaldo will ship a LOT more shirts in asia.
Villa is a great player but not a huge name. They will pay this 130m in sponsorship and advertising over the 5 years.
Villa isnt in the same league.

Wow indeed. With 80M United will certainly be able to strengthen however, so the good news of his departure is maybe not so good.

80 fucking million! Where the hell do they get that kind of dough? That is impressive cash.

Puts our own "warchest"in perspective also.

Amazing player though he is, we and others, have shown that it is distinctly possible to shut him down, he is one of the very best players in the world no doubt but i'm pleased he is going as he is also possibly the least admirable in terms of character... i know a few United fans who will hardly be crying about it...

Agree.

Until I see what they do with the money I can't say this is great news. £80Million is way way too much money to give to Ginsoak.

Ronaldo misses 1/4 of each season so with £80M he could easily by 3 or 4 top class players for up front and where it's needed more - in midfield which IMO will strengthen them overall.

Let's see what he does with it - the reaction from my United supporting friends is one of unrestrained glee.

United could buy Newcastle with the money made from selling ONE player. Strange days.

Ha - not really. What would you rather have - the "best player in the world" TM or a seriously fucked-up Championship club?
Fergie wont be given 80m to spend. He'll sign two top class players, a forward and a centre midfielder.
Hes losing Hargreaves, Tevez and Ronaldo. Maybe Van der sar, scholes and Giggs too. It might not be a huge demise or owt, but strengthenin it aint.

That's my feeling too.. also I can't see United paying 3 or 4 top players £80,0000 or more per week each, which would increase their salary costs when they are in so much debt already.

This is good news.

the worry is they will take that money and buy a raft of stars, for instance if they bought

ribery
benzema
villa

they would be a better team.

Those three would probably cost more like 130-150m in this inflated market, so unlikely.
