Rodgers

That was when Lampard was young and fit, Gerrard's 32 and spends half the year injured. Besides, the No. 10 role in Rodgers' teams requires a creative type; think along the lines of Mata, Silva, Sneijder, Nasri at Arsenal, etc.

Gerrard doesn't fit that role for me.

I would think Gerrard still has the legs for it but maybe not.

As for the creativity in that type of role, I think he proved when he played behind Torres he's more than capable of doing it when the rest of the team can feed him the ball which under Rodgers is a distinct possibility.

We need to start planning for life without Gerrard, and this is a pretty good opportunity to do so. I'm not advocating putting him out to pasture or sitting him on the bench or anything, but the days of building a team around him are gone.

There's a pretty recurring trend amongst Rodgers Swansea side; youth, and fitting into the system.

Oh you have no idea. You WILL be Brendan too. Trust me. And when you are, you will be screaming and crying for what will seem like eternity, trying desperately to remember that something which dantes once told you but you never paid attention.

It's not often, I admit, but sometimes you just try to step outside the capabilities nature has defined for you Dantes. When you do it's more than a bit average.

While Rodgers will get my full support, I'll sleep a bit better once Van Gaal is also officially confirmed.

Mate, I'm not necessarily against Van Gaal coming in but, if he does, the whole place could just as easily go through the leagues like a lead balloon as sail to the summit. Every bit of LFC news would be a "hold your breath" moment.

I know nothing about Rodgers.
What I do know is that I am older than the Liverpool Manager. Which feels akin to being kicked in the bollocks and stem by Roberto Carlos whilst, at exactly the same moment, Claude Makelele approaches me from behind and throws his coke can dimensioned todger balls deep into my dry, tiny, nervous stink orifice.
Not happy whatsoever.

Just to annoy Ross I'm gonna expand on this.

I agree completely. The problem is (I posted this beards ago in that massive who what thread) that when fit he is simply too good to not play.

So Rodgers has to find a system that suits our players both with, & without, Gerrard.

As such I think he may well play the latter day (not seen him for galaxy). Beckham role of central to right mid drifting in long pinpoint crosses & not marauding forwards too much. I just don't think stevie can successfully play the more defensive central role we cry out for him to do as he ages, cos when he's that involved with play he naturally wants to push up.

That, & lack of goals (which Swansea suffered ironically) will be his biggest problem.

I don't know what to think to be honest. I'm not going to get stressed about it though. I just hope he has the capability and influence to win the respect and patience of the fans and the players. The last thing the guy needs is to be starting off on the back foot due to everyone piling on the pressure and high profile players spitting their dummies out.

His players loved him.
He plays great possession football.
He is experienced in our top flight (albeit a year)
He has an eye for a good player.
Hes young and fiercely ambitious.
Hes studious and willing to change.
He has the respect of his peers.
He is from Carnlough.
He almost ALWAYS rocks a suit and v-neck combo.

Im not gonna lie the weight worries me. Hes got the potential given his new earning potential to go the way of Hodgson/Rafa/Houllier et al, but im hoping he keeps off the scouse and ale and keeps that shit trim.
Right about now im already hanging my cock out in anticipation.

I know that more than most ive gone on about getting a sexy young hungry manager for the past few years and i'll be flayed if he flops, but the more im thinking about it the more delighted I am.

I support you in all of those things. The lengths he goes to study the game has impressed me no end. I like the way he speaks. I like his philosophy. He's not fat he's chunky. Let us be flayed together.

A bit like Sheik said yesterday, I will be a lot happier if we have LVG, or another of his stature, in a DOF type role

Yep, we still need pulling power. It'll be great if Rodgers can pick up a few gems, but we need to be up there and that might require us to be able to attract big names too.

He also looks like a bit of a rockhard bastard who the players might think twice about slacking off for. Rather than a kindly old uncle.

I always find in life its best not to cross blokes who had a kid before the age of 13. They are normally not against smashing a beer bottle across your teeth.

Where the fuck is Carnlough & how is it pronounced?

Carn-luff?
Carn-loff?
Carn-lowe?
Carn-louke?

Or some completely mental Irish way that makes no sense like Siobhan? (I was 21 before I found out that name wasn't said the way logic tells you it should be).

Also, is Rodgers Catholic or Prod? Not that I give a shit but seen some people saying different things on twitter.

I'm happy about Rodgers being here, but i'm working on the assumption that Van Gaal will come in too, i'm putting my faith in Sheik. If Van Gaal doesn't come in, i'm happy, but very nervous.

Ha. Ta. The Irish pronounce things strangely just to annoy me, I'm convinced of it. I'd love to change words to make them work properly. Especially quay. I hate that word.

Hahahaha @ siobhan.

Most Nornirishers have been to Carnlough because its near Larne and thats where you got the Ferry over to 'the mainland'

Its also Close to Ballymena which is like a shite tiny version of Blackpool.
Theres Faaaaar nice places along the North Antrim coast mind you. Or down in County Down.

SSN.........
Rodgers will not have to defer to any outside influences when it comes to day to day football matters.

So are we getting a DOF or what?
