That was when Lampard was young and fit, Gerrard's 32 and spends half the year injured. Besides, the No. 10 role in Rodgers' teams requires a creative type; think along the lines of Mata, Silva, Sneijder, Nasri at Arsenal, etc.
Gerrard doesn't fit that role for me.
I would think Gerrard still has the legs for it but maybe not.
As for the creativity in that type of role, I think he proved when he played behind Torres he's more than capable of doing it when the rest of the team can feed him the ball which under Rodgers is a distinct possibility.
