Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has trolled Jose Enrique on Twitter and admitted that he does not want the Spaniard to resurrect his career under Jurgen Klopp.
Enrique joined the Reds from Newcastle United in the summer of 2011 and enjoyed initial success at Anfield as he established himself as first-choice left back.
But the 29-year-old fell down the pecking order during Brendan Rodgers' reign and is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Merseysiders this term.
Klopp's arrival at the club following Rodgers' dismissal could give a number of fringe players an opportunity to prove their worth to the German coach, whose first game in charge yielded a respectable point away at Tottenham, as he attempts to alter the team's philosophy.

However, Riise, who spent seven years with the Reds, has claimed that he does not want to see Enrique return to the first-team fold.
When asked by one Twitter user whether there was any way back for Jose Enrique at Liverpool, Riise's response was succinct.

But Riise still has high hopes for Alberto Moreno, the man who has made the left back slot his own this season.

And I dont get the balotelli exemption

Least balo has gone somewhere else for the minute. Enrique refused to move and decided to steal a wage instead

Enrique stayed to fight for his place. Balotelli has a chance of reviving his career in Italy - good luck to him.

How on earth did Enrique stay and fight for his place? Rodgers made it abundantly clear he would have no chance. Borini (eventually) and balo listened to that. Enrique wanted to stay for the money

We were stupid enough to offer them all contracts, they all have a right to be paid for those contracts if they want to be.

It's our fault for giving him a 5 year contract.

And Rogers is gone, and if Klopp decides that Jose deserves another chance I will not begrudge the fellow. If he gets rid of him Jan, fair do's. I have no malice towards him.

I was watching a random match on tv and recognised Riise. He is playing for Delhi in the Indian league now. The football was terrible, he was terrible. Anelka is the manager there and i thought I saw Roberto Carlos on the opposing end. Malouda was playing for one of them.

It was really strange viewing.

Enrique is doing a Bogarde

Fair enough we gave him the contract but fuck him for having no ambition or desire to play the game

According to him he is training very hard. Rogers wrote him off klopp might see something different. If Moreno is injured is there a better alternative from now till jan?

Is Moreno injured?

You seem to be straining to see Enrique in a positive light

Enrique wasn't a bad player at all. I was a big fan of Riise but he's not covered himself in glory of late.

Riise was going mental on Twitter when the current Norwegian left back made a mistake and we conceded a goal against Italy.
Seems as though he's forgotten how he fucked up himself against Chelsea.

Married for the upteenth time, started blogging, changing his hair colour and denying he's a ginger.
Cant stand him to be honest.

Steal a living? Please.
Do you think he's worthy of what he gets paid? Do you think he's showed any consistency in producing the talent he clearly has?

Do you think he's actually trying he best?

I don't. That's lazy to me and in most other industries he'd be out on his arse. If he starts performing now, then I'd ask why he didn't do that under BR. He wasn't played out of position, he was one of the few who was played in his position. So what's his excuse?

You may not agree, but in my book, what he's doing is unacceptable. But then he's not the first footballer to do this and with the way football is now, he won't be the last. I'm not singling him out, just replying to the thread and posts.

It's the classic player vs club morality issue.
A player should be loyal to the club, but the club doesn't have to show the same loyalty.
Players live with the knowledge that they can be replaced at any time.

We've seen players like McAteer almost crying after being dumped by us. Did we demand loyalty from the club? No.
So that's why they have agents. It's all about looking after the player and their interests. For the most part.

I reckon carra's comments did for him when he said there was no point shouting at him as he never did anything he was told.

TBH if I had to choose from Teeth and Enrique who should leave the club its an easy choice. Enrique is equally entitled to the contract offered as Rodgers.

I was hoping there'd be some love for the underwear pics. At least Riise's reminds us of the good times on that run to Istanbul.

Great. So a thread about Riise and Enqrique, completely of no significance to Rodgers (who's now gone, you got what you wanted) and you still can't help but have a dig. Give it up eh.

Like has been said in other threads, the lads on here who defended Rodgers at times have been more than graceful about his departure and the arrival of Klopp. Shame it doesn't work both ways with some posters.

We hold footballers to some ridiculous standards, as if they're some form moral arbiters. Jose Enrique comes into work every day and does what the club employed him to do, he trains with the team and makes himself available to play. The problem here isn't Jose Enrique, as no one on this board would act any differently in his situation, the problem here is that the club yet again grossly misspent on a long contract for a limited player.

I was a huge Riise fan but can't i'm a huge fan of ex players making derogatory comments towards current players like that. It doesn't benefit anyone. Sure - make them once he's left but that kind of comment now just irks me.

No reason to be overexited. My point is that we can fuck off any manager by paying off his contract, but People are calling Enrique a thief for honouring his. We overpay players and need to know that it is a risk. Enrique signed a contract and we are eager to get rid we can sell him or compensate him. Freezing him out is just stupid.
