"I guess"? Have gone all American, Mark?

😀 It's the influence of those upstairs.

In may in a podcast for the Guardian German journalist Raphael Honigstein said that Ribery would play next season for a team in red in the north west of England if I remember correctly.

At the time I assumed Scum and haven't given it a moments thought since, but now . . . and Honigstein isn't a wind up, he knows the german football scene inside out.

Written by a bloke on TIA, thought it might be an interesting piece to post

Skully the internet hardman. I would imagine he's a bit of a pansy in person.

Tell him to come to drinkies and find out Skully.

The thing that I love about this link, and the flurry of betting that has taken place, presumably on some 'insider' knowledge is its utter randomness. We're the only top side not linked with Ribery, and for good reason- because everyone knew, or thought they knew, we're comparatively skint. With the perennial Henry links, there was something to illicit a rumour. He has alwys profesed an admiration for our history, support, and has had public wankathons with SG. But this, this is soooo leftfield you wonder, is it so mad it's true?

Franck Ribery Joining Liverpool

The Frenchman could be set for a somewhat surprising switch to Merseyside...

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Bavaria this summer, with Real Madrid his own stated preferred destination, though a clutch of Europe's biggest clubs have been reportedly interested at one stage or another.

Liverpool, until now, have not been one of those clubs, but British bookmaker Skybet, the company who dramatically slashed their odds on Michael Owen joining Manchester United the day before the striker signed for the Old Trafford outfit, have announced a similar cut on the odds of Ribery moving to Anfield.

The bookmakers have cut the odds on a Mersey move for the Frenchman from 66/1 to 8/13 on, after receiving a flurry of bets on the move taking place.

"Every price we have put up has been taken on Ribery moving to Liverpool, which has left us stumped as in recent weeks he has been liked with every other club but the Reds!" Skybet's Dale Tempest told sports betting website oddspreview.com.

"After seeing money for him to join Man United and Real Madrid at the same time that Bayern Munich say he’s going nowhere, we’ve now seen a flood of bets on him to join Liverpool.

"8/13 may seem a very short price but after the losses we made last week on Michael Owen, who was gambled down from 20/1 to move to Manchester United, we are taking no chances."

It remains to be seen whether or not this is a further example of the bookies' prescience, or merely the symptom of yet more speculation regarding the player's future.

What I find most odd is that Real Madrid's odds of signing him are 8/1
Unless the bookies know something WE don't then surely they wouldn't risk a killing by having such large odds for Madrid?

Real have more or less ruled a move out for him this summer, hence all the talk of a pre-contract agreement.

That post just got me excited 😀

Seriously though, you have wonder about the power of the fans, the internet and the media.

This was just a murmur a few hours ago and now it's snowballed. Next the press will be asking us, asking Bayern, clubs will get anxious etc... It's mad! I just hope there's a smidgen of truth in it.

Even if this doesn't happen, the surge of joy that shot through my body for the first thirty seconds of this thread was worth it...

Just what I needed during a looooooooooooooooooong week.

Christ, could you imagine...?

Dear Lord,
You've seen fit to not allow me to watch Liverpool at all when I'm home next month, now that you've allowed Sky to move the game to late on Sunday. Thanks for that, by the way...
How's about a little transfer here, to make up for it, eh?
I'll be a good boy. Honest.
Thanks,
Derek

Nah, it's the press & the bookies combining to make yet more air-time & cash from fans. Happens every season with links similarly.

Or, we're signing him & they know it.

The former is more likely TBH.

I'm sure that Dale Tempest is having a good giggle at our expense. How could little skint Liverpool attract the likes of Ribery.

This is what the summer is all about.

However, the only thing which makes me doubt it, is that it wasnt cryptic enough. Now, if there had been some sort of riddle or vague suggestion about the transfer, I'd be 129% convinced

Come on Jon - try and be a tad bit 'dreamy' ... and remember, Ribery is good on two levels a) it gives us one of the world's best wingers and b) it brings out Brendan, who's vowed to use 'daylight ribery' if we sign him.

Tsk.

You, and your sensible non-silly season talk.

Away with you!

This will be one of the greatest ever transfers if we pull it off.

In a week where the scum sign Owen and some unknown French dude for £3m, having just sold their best player for £80m, out of nowhere we pull off signing the one player they have been wanking over.

inshallah it goes through

Surely Rafa wouldn't come out and talk about 'crazy' transfers and money, money, money if we were just about to sign Ribery who *will* cost well in excess of 30M.

Hmmmm... someone just posted on facebook that all bets have been suspended.

All transfer activity bets have.

Keep the Mancs off the scent of the greatest transfer coup since Barcelona stole Ronaldinho from them?

maybe 25 mill + Babel ...
