I think there would be similarly embarrassing moments whichever Premier League manager you shadowed with a camera all the time. It's a bit like showing people how magic tricks are done - people are always hoping to be amazed but are more often than not completely underwhelmed by what's going on out of sight. The problem for Rodgers at the moment is that not only are his magic tricks not working, but we can all see what he's doing.

Brendan has restored my faith in modern footy. I thought it was all stats and science. Now I realise its party games and Kum ba Yah me Lord. What a ledge!

Oh, sod off... You know as well as I do, half this forum thinks there are names in each one.

That's not possible. Anyone massively stupid enough to believe that there are actually names in those envelopes, would clearly be much too thick to be able to get online and post here, or anywhere else for that matter.

There's something endearing about managers trying to treat players as players and not as superstars and not having to feel they're walking on egg shells. It can go the other way though and become an embarrassing example of taking it too far and singling out the ones that aren't pulling their weight (or those that aren't wanted) in an undignified, almost condescending manner. In that sense, some of his antics are reminding me of Hodgson. It's a good job he has a vision and a method that we can see with our own eyes, where Roy failed, but the results are the same.

Ultimately though, it feels a bit hypocritical all this not playing to ego's and treating players as legs on a table, while still tip toeing around the few top drawer players he does have, and going home each night to swoon over the massive canvas of himself in his massive living room.
