Shelvey - 5
Poulson - 5
Eccelston - 5

Roy - 3 (His tactics and subs, more so than the players, let us down today).

Reina - 6 not much to actually save but occasionally shakey, occasionally good.

Kelly - 8 MOTM, as said. Held the player up well, good burst of pace on the attack, good eye for a pass and a cross.
Carra - 7 Steady and assured
Skrtel - 6.5 Started decent, shakey though for the most part
Konch - 3 All over the place and poor distribution and touch. Glared at a few times by team mates.

Meireles - 5 poor and subbed for whatever reason, didn't release the ball quick enough on a few occasions, out of position though.
Lucas - 5 Poor, gave the ball away, tried to do the Masher role of being everywhere, which only works for Masher.
Gerrard - 7 Hit and miss, some good some bad, still out most threatening player alongside Torres.
Maxi - 6 Some good touches, had Konch behind him who he had to constantly help out.

Kuyt - 5.5 Industrious, looked tired and short of it.
Torres - 7 Sharp again, worryingly fed up towards the end.

Shelvey - 6.5 Some great passes, you can see he's got the game intelligence and ball control, out of position though and edgy.
Poulsen - 5 Flattened in his first challenge and left for dead, got better but still not good enough though allowed Gerrard to escape forward more.
Ecclestone - N/A

Konch did bail us out once, preventing a one on one with the keeper. He wasn't all bad.

Shelvey made one of the worst performances I've seen in a Liverpool-shirt for quite some time. Hit a few good passes early on but boy he looked completely out of his depths.

He'll be fine I reckon but today he was very very poor.

So was the overall team performance mind.

Yeah he was poor, though that's what happens walking into a team that can't pass. He played a great ball to Torres though.

Pretty sure it was Maxi who gave a great ball to Stevie. Don't remember any great balls played by Shelvey who looked more out of his depth than anyone I've seen in recent memory. Does have nice control but looked like a boy amongst men though he was constantly the focus of Pepe, Lucas, Stevie and Carra in terms of being given support.

He did hit a gorgeous cross-field ball to Torres quite early in thje second half... It was inch perfect.

That was the one single thing that he did right in an otherwise dreadful performance.

Shelvey will find his feet at this level. I'm not worried.

To be very honest, this is not a bad result, considering how much some of our key players have played recently. I would have liked a win for sure. Gerrard should have sealed it with that wonder move.

I'm glad Meireles got some rest. I hope hodgson gives some of the key players some rest from training before the saturday game, and stick to the same team/tactics.

If we were a bit better with retaining possession we would have easily stuffed Wigan, and i'm going to naively blame it entirely on the tired legs of our key players.

It was a shocking performance, and the ratings should be there after.

Kelly, Gerrard, Reina and Torres was alright. The rest meh. Hoof hoof and hoof.

One was distinctively average the other was abysmal. What's not to agree upon? Give Poulsen 5 then and Shelvey 2 if you like.

6.5 for Shelvey is immensely generous. I have high hopes for him but he was a liability for much of the time he was there. Don't get me wrong, he needs these opportunities to develop, and I hope he gets more of them, but he misplaced so many passes that I started hoping that Lucas would take it off him.

Yeah... but he's English?

Yeah... but he's English?

Are you even going to try and go there? That I (and others on this board) are biased towards English players?

Here's some English players that I have truly despised at Liverpool in recent years: Kirkland, Tennants, Crouch.

So shut the fuck up.

You shut the fuck up Brendan.

I've backed about five Danish players to come good. Are you aware that there are thousands of them out there? A lot of 'cunts' and seriously bad players too. Piechnik was a joke and so has all the Danish keepers at the club been. I'm not even sure what Hansen is doing at our subs bench every time I've'seen him he's looked shaky and poor.

You've been wanting us to sign Lee 'Redcard' Cattermole for quite some time now and it certainly makes sense to me now. You must've seen something I didn't. Because of his nationality. Place of birth or something like that.

You are no better than me so stop acting like a saint.

So, you think if we asked around the site and the question was:

"Which poster is more biased towards players from their own country, Brendan or KHL?", that the result would be anything less than a landslide?

Brendan focuses on shit players while watching games and KHL looks out for any danes on the pitch to sing praises .Games without shit players or danish ones must be a pain to watch.

Very sucinct and perceptive

I have been a supporter of plenty of players that have 'split opinion' among Liverpool fans:

Alonso, Kuyt, Riise, Magic, Bellamy, Kewell, Garcia, even Babel.

So that's not accurate at all. In any way.

Try again. Or rather, don't.

KHL, it is unfair to give Shelvey one and Poulsen six. It doesn't make sense.

Shelvey is only a kid and found it tough playing out of position. He played a lovely ball to Torres which probably should have led to a goal. Poulsen on the other hand is a 31 year old vastly experienced player coming on in his favoured position and didn't contribute at all. Summing everything up, it isn't fair for one individual to get a rating of one and the other receives a six and that is why people are baffled by it.

I don't think posters are biased towards Jonjo only because he is English. I'm Irish (and have no bias towards English players) and don't agree with your ratings in this instance.

Hmm, I don't know if that's entirely true, I find myself willing on the likes of Kelly much more than I did someone like Insua. Obviously if they're playing for us, you want them all to do well, but I especially like to see young English players break through.

This was all I tried to say actually. And I really don't think there's anything wrong with it either.
