Yet again a high profile ex-player gets a top job without any prior experience, track record or network.

Only in Football

In fairness, he has coaching experience with England and this job is Head Coach.

Hope he fucks it up anyway.

It's gonna be interesting to see how he does. The man knows football that's for damn sure.

ahahahahaha
I've got valencia to lose at the weekend too - ratface's first game in charge.........vs Barca

Not that odd if you look at Peter Lim and Valencia and Salford and the Neville brothers (not the soul/funk combo).

Jorge Mendes heavily involved there as well.

Why would you leave a very well paying almost stress free job, for a Job in Spain with a Team that has financial strains, and will cause mental stress? Beggars belief.

Hiring a short-term coach who i assume doesn't speak the language seems a bit stupid. I'm guessing you can't learn spanish in a few months.

Gutted! This reminds me of when Pegguy Arphexad left for Coventry.

Really????????

Doesn't need the money as is set for life from his ManU contracts; and given that experience, pissing round doing what he does on tv in all likelihood probably doesn't feel like being properly involved in football. Hes clearly enjoyed his coaching with England, but probably misses being around the team environment day-to-day. Its not like the Andy Gray situation when the Bluenoses came knocking - he clearly did still require a wage, and it would have been a jump into completely unknown territory, so staying with Sky was far more preferable.

Seems like a pretty obvious move to me, only slightly strange thing may be the choice of team - but undoubtedly they are a big club (regardless of debt), theres a family connection to give him the inside track, and cutting your teeth in Spain might be better than the media glare in the North East of England.

I suspect you're right, he probably wants to prove a point. I think the decision is barmy, when you have a comfy highly paying job in a country where your family is settled and is home all to give it up and go to Spain.

Wenger will have to retire soon or retire as approaches 70. Its said they are preparing a £7m bid for James Mcarthur of Palace.

He isn't taking charge til after the Barca game. Bottling it already. 😉

I wonder will he live in a hotel like Moyes and make no effort to learn the language? Does Phil speak Spanish?

best of luck to him since he's in a different league. I know, very controversial.

Fuck this shit. Remember how he ran across the pitch celebrating the winner.

I hope one of the two happens:

(i) He relegates Valencia and becomes their worst manager in history.

(ii) He does a decent job creating a clamour among Manc fans for him to replace Van Gaal. Woodward obliges and then he relegates the Mancs.

He must have been like the Spanish Alan Partridge.
