Liverpool have moved to seal a deal for a new goalkeeper – but Simon Mignolet won’t be getting worried just yet.

The player in question is 16-year-old Irish prospect Caoimhin Kelleher whose current club Ringmahon Rangers announced the move on their Twitter page.

The Republic of Ireland youth international goalkeeper has started four games in the successful U17 European qualifying campaign, most recently in the 1-0 defeat to Poland last month while he has also featured on the bench twice.

Kelleher is reported to signed a four year deal at Anfield and will head to the academy in Kirkby where he will join the likes of Lawrence Vigouroux and Andy Firth among the younger keepers. Danny Ward, 21, who was on the bench for the first team earlier this year is currently on loan at Morecombe.

Irish football writer Ryan Kelly said on Twitter: “Liverpool have procured a great talent in Caoimhin Kelleher. He was hugely impressive for @RingmahonRanger this season.”
Ringmahon are a Cork-based club with more than 60 years of history.
Kelleher was part of the Ringmahon U17 team which won the Cork Youth Leagues U17 Premier League this year.

Turns out a friend in work is actually his uncle!
The lad's a ManU fan, his brother is with Celtic. He played all three (losing) games for Irealnd in the u-17 Euros this week gone.

Is there any club that has signed more young keepers in their history than us? Especially ones that never make the first team.

Caiman, like the small crocodile.

If 'Siobhan' is anything to go by though then it's probably pronounced "Doug".

We seem to have signed a lot of young Irish players recently
