So again, kenny reaffirmed that he wasnt expecting much activity from us in the window and to be honest I find that extremely alarming.

More over, quite easily the difference between finishing 4th and attracting (potentially) players of a better caliber than those we did last summer.

Thats not even going into the fiscal benefits of the CL.

Does Kenny and the club really think that our strongest 11 is capable of getting 4th this season?

No faith from Henry and co? Or stoicism or genuine belief?

Its only 20th HC. I wont start to worry until that fucker from Sky comes on shift at 5pm on 31st. Jim something or other.

I don't expect any big signings. Didn't at the beginning of the window either. I think we're holding off, giving our signings a chance to prove themselves and we'll evaluate in the summer.

Kenny says things like this all the time, and everything is kept in house.
Frustrating as fuck for us but probably good for the club.

I'll be very surprised if we dont add an attacking player during the window. We need goals and someone to come in and shake up the squad a bit.

This.

I hope.

Not sure if I'm trying to convince myself but, for me, it will be akin to selling Ming just before season start if he doesn't sign someone. Either he knows something about the squad that has eluded everyone else watching the game or he honestly thinks we're playing well enough to get 4th.

You've assured us we'll finish 4th anyway Wizardry, so new signings are immaterial

Touche!

We'll finish 4th; I'd just prefer to do it in a canter than sweat it to the line.

I think we will get a player... But just the one player probably, and that will still be a relatively quiet transfer window... All things considered.

I say that because that adds a bit of context to the overly defensive line up we played against stoke. May be kenny thought a point will serve us better than losing as stoke is a tricky fixture for us. May be Kenny is confident of putting a run together when Suarez is back and when we have possibly added another player?

Im just deluding myself to believe that the glass is half full....

Actually if Gerrard manages to stay fit for the rest of the season, we should play a lot better wheb Suarez is back.....

I'm not sure why anyone is too surprised . We signed a fair few 1st team players in the summer for big money ...the plan is obviously to work with these for the foreseeable future . FSG will only spend what the club generate so i don't expect there to be endless supplies of money to correct every transfer mistake .

This is why the transfers of the likes of Downing , Carroll , even Henderson and Adam ,irritated me so much ...because even if they can play well enough to get 4th i don't see them as good enough to do much more so what was the long term plan and expectation ?

But we might still buy someone like this young Uaregayer i guess .

Downing and Carroll irritate me so much, but I can see that Hendo has been bought for the future from the glimpses he's shown. Adam is a Danny Murphy type for us (imo), so i reckon for now he's worth his place here, and from the experience with Blackpool and pulling them through when he was needed I still reckon he has a few big moments in him for us just like Danny had. Based on all the gossip with regards to defoe and bent earlier in the window I'll be very surprised if we dont sign a striker....based on the fact that we unbelievably need one!!

To be honest I think Carroll and Downing are dragging Hendo down. Doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as those two.

This has to be the most boring transfer window I can remember. No signings, no rumours, no ITK info. Where's mark mc when you need him?
