Purslow talks.....

Good read.

MADRID, Feb 2 — Liverpool are aiming to strike a deal with investors before the end of the season so they can get plans for a new stadium back on track, the club’s managing director was quoted as saying today.

The English Premier League club have put plans to move from Anfield to a 60,000-seat arena at Stanley Park on hold pending an injection of funds and the new stadium is a key part of a plan to boost revenue and help them compete with richer rivals.

“When I arrived we agreed with the owners that we had to look for new investors,†managing director Christian Purslow said in an interview with Spanish sports daily As.

“There are interested parties and I would like to get it sorted out before the end of this season,†he added. “Without investment there won’t be a new stadium.â€

Purslow said the club would try to maintain the status quo if they did not manage to reach an agreement with new investors.

“That’s plan B: run the club in the most responsible way possible,†he told the newspaper.

“We are generating a healthy profit and meeting our obligations, while remaining competitive in the transfer market and with the wages we are paying.†— Reuters

hmmmm. I'm pretty sure Purslow has said some of this off-the-record and these silly cunts have produced it in their minutes. Right now, Purslow seems to be a good thing for the club, and the last thing we need is him getting his P45 before he gets us the right deal.

If Purslow is not fired after that, then he is an RBS man.

He holds quarterly interviews with SOS each year. They've got the minutes of his last interview on their site.

Whilst I'm not SOS's biggest fan, it does at least engage the directors in some interesting dialogue.

I agree Doc, and clearly that is why he is keen to put out his santised version , they have shafted him good and proper.
As Peekay says after talking about T&G in those terms I would expect him to be sacked, unless he is there at someone elses behest, and to be honest if that is the case T&G would have good reason to ask him to be moved on.
Still it serves him right talking to that mob, and giving them that level of credibility, he is obviously not as bright as I thought hoped he might be.

It's an interesting read actually. More demonstration of lies and bullshit from the owners camp yet at least CP seems openly honest about our situation. Can't say it's happy reading though

Indeed. I thought the end of Purslow's minutes were quite poignant:

And as I said to a small group of you when I arrived. The most difficult part of bringing in investment is the coverage of disturbances or protests at games. Much is overplayed but it gets read. The fact is that the owners are working hard to bring in investment. They are not an obstacle to this process-indeed they started it and bringing me in confirmed it. But it is tough to persuade new investors of the attraction of the club if they think they will get hassled every time they visit. So I again urge you all to think about this aspect and try and do the right thing. We are making slow but sure progress. Please help us get the job done and we will happily continue to keep you and your members informed via this channel of communication.

They've completely shot themselves in the foot with their version, and have undermined someone who I think was a genuinely encouraging appointment for LFC. I very much doubt he'll be having many dealings with them in the future, if indeed he retains his position.

SOS really don't paint themselves in a good light here. Not if they want to be considered a credible organisation.

That's a fair point. SOS, whilst probably having what they believe are the right intentions, are doing things here that can harm the club. And their focus on Purslow may end up with us losing someone who I feel is doing a decent job for the club

And last point. If Purslow does not agree to the minutes i can't see what right they have to publish their version of them.

Exactly, it's the mob mentality, things like that are the very reason people should not support them or give them any credibility.
It's the same as the very behaviour they hold Hicks and Gillet responsible for, dishonest and manipulative.

THere is a massive difference between SOS's minutes and CP's minutes.

One is sensationalised and the other is more realistic, amke your minds up which is which.

It's like they have an agenda to cause issues for anyone within the LFC hierarchy Vlad. They should concentrate on doing the things they do well. Like geeing up support for the team with their banners and organised cheerleading sessions and leaving the business politics to those people who really understand it

All this going to do is piss of LFC and Purslow and it's likely SOS will lose their right to access any kind of information from here onwards. They're acting like the playground bully at the moment

Precisely. It's nothing more than shit-stirring.

SOS either have motives that are less pure than they would like people to think or they are just a bit thick.

I didn't approve of the slightly embarrassing and deluded continued attempts to stop the owners going to games, the shouting at other fans for going in to watch the team with their families rather than standing in the carpark with banners was even more pathetic and now, even though the club are giving them recognition way beyond their entitlement they pull a stunt like this.

What did they think this could possibly achieve?
The have a misguided view of their importance, power and authority.
have you ever met them? they're local, match going fans

got a problem? go and meet them, they're not difficult to find and from what I understand it's a democratic organisation

Purslow is right for speaking to fans about the club that they love, however meeting SOS on a quarterly basis has left them with a certain level of credability. Maybe the idea was to meet them and keep them quiet and not protest which as he mentions is clearly making his job much harder.

He talks like he dislikes the owners and the way they have gone about stuff, and has a dig at previous owners also for making the wrong decision. It's encouraging to know that they will leave the club fully if given the option but it will be interesting to see who will come in and how much they will offer.

Rafa has had money to spend in Jan which he obviously hasn't spent, but has spent the whole time talking about possible summer targets, so he really is looking to stay on.

So according to the unofficial version, the club is for sale and there are interested parties that wants to buy us. G&H have to sell, and have slashed the price. That kind of highlights the article that was printed this weekend.

Excellent. Let's hope it's true.

Reading that, either version, told me one thing: if Man City bid £100m for Torres in the summer, he'll be sold.

Maybe I should have known this anyway, but I didn't. I'm very sad at the thought.

it's hard to think we wouldn't be better off if it was reinvested into the squad ( as unlikely as that would be ) but i'd still be dissapointed 'cos i'm slightly in love with him.

We'd have to accept £100 million. No question.

Although we still have to take the player into account. If he doesn't wish to play for them he can stay put. I believe Torres is that sort of guy. Maybe I'm a bit soft in the head.
