well I posted the team I would like to see rather than the team that will actually play. I definately agree with you about kuyt and think he should be fucked off in the summer, replaced by an ACTUAL wide midfielder rather than us fielding a makeshift wide midfielder.

We had acres of space to work with down the left hand side, all that was needed was some link play between Aurelio and Maxi and we could have gotten in behind Fabio very easily, but every time Aurelio got the ball Maxi disappeared inside and never showed for a pass. It was pathetic.

truth is I really wish one time (ONE TIME) we paided over the odd for a wide player of quality rather than spending peanuts on players we hope will turn into the next john barnes and end up being shipped out a couple of months later because surpise surpise they don't turn out very good.
 
At the moment I feel arguing whether to play Kuyt or Maxi(or Babel) is like arguing whether to eat shit or drink piss.

I don't think it's fair to say babel should be no where near the first team and maxi start ahead of him when maxi is just as invisible. at home I would start maxi ahead of babel, however I would start babel ahead of maxi as he will inject pace and possible the opposition fullback wont want to venture forwards as they will be scared babel using the space behind him because he isn't going to be caught. that's why I picked babel.

Babel, Maxi and Cole would be close to the starting line-up as well and for what it's worth Lucas isn'd doing my head in of late - think he's improved a lot this Season overall and is certainly less of a pain in the a*se to watch from my perspective.

He's not half the player he used to be because physically he's nowhere near what he used to be. In the past he didn't need service, he got the ball and beat people for fun.

It works both ways Neil.

Torres needs to be at least trying to find space so others can provide him the service that he needs. He isn't putting in the amount of work that made him so effective

The premise was to post a team of players you like, not necessarily the best or most effective team.
 
on the one hand I want to rip into torres but on the other hand I've seen the lack of service and it's been going on for months. maybe we look into supporting torres more, giving torres more passing options, giving torres better passes to his feet and see where we go from there.

If Torres bothered to move away from the defenders he'd get better passes to his feet. He doesn't.

He's doing exactly what Owen did in his final year with us. Coasting.
 
I don't want to judge any player on how they played under Roy. Season two has started and I'll judge players from now on, and Torres certainly put in effort yesterday.
