I just read on BBC he's already lodged an appeal against the sexual activity charge. So presumably they may apply for a stay on any sentence pending the appeal for that.

Its kind of tough to appeal that conviction when you've already admitted to grooming her.

Miss Blackwell said a medical report concluded Johnson "believes he has a right to sex".

She said the same report writer said the footballer believed his actions did not constitute an offence as he thought of the victim as a young woman not a child.

The prosecutor said he told one medic: "I treated her like any other girl I meet."

She said he added: "I put her age out of my mind ... Her age never came into my mind."

He's not a paedophile, but he is quite clearly guilty of grooming and pursuing a sexual interest in an underage person. So that's a crime. So that's prison.

The difference between 13 and 16 is three years.
The difference between 12 and 16 is four years.

Higher than I thought it would be. It was obvious he was going down, but I thought 3-4 years.

The line has to be drawn somewhere. Otherwise you can say 14 is basically 15, 13 is basically 14 etc.

Disgraced footballer Adam Johnson was arrested over possession of animal pornography, it can be revealed for the first time today after he was jailed for six years.

Johnson's phone and laptop were seized after his arrest at home in County Durham in March last year.

The 28-year-old was then re-arrested on suspicion of possessing extreme pornography but was not charged with the offence as the police investigation focused on his meetings with the girl.
