Pre-Season Game 1: Tranmere

It's kinda hard to discern who is arguing with who in this thread. All seems a bit random.

Anyways, I missed the game. So a couple of the youngsters impressed, eh? Any chance of a star emerging?

Probably why he took it quite easy today:

Klopp: "Joel Matip had a little surgery during the break – he had a screw in his ankle. He’s only been two weeks in training." #LFC

Obviously we shouldn't get carried away, but sometimes players ooze quality and you could see it with Ejaria, he looks like he's got everything - balance, technique, pace, power, passing ability and can shoot. I hope there is a big future there.

As an aside, our friend's son got 45 minutes in the second half against Liverpool, Evan Gumbs. He did himself and his family proud with a great goal line clearance and he also had Markovic off a few times. This lad played alongside my lad for the school team, lovely family and a really big moment for him to cherish.

Does that stadium belong to the Tranmere Rovers? Really impressive for a 5th division team! And as a foreigner, I have to say I love the British football culture in terms of the lower-tier football, the quality, the organization and vibrant support from fans – maybe it's the best thing about football in England, actually. I think Tranmere Rovers have comparable average attendance to Dynamo Kyiv, who are the champions of Ukraine, which just fills me with envy – in a good way.

Not that long ago that Tranmere were in League One I think. Quite impressive as you say.
Probably a great place to go and watch football when Liverpool arent playing at home.

The most impressive thing was how mobile McNulty was, despite being, well, a bit "bulky"...

There was an interview with Matip which was mentioned during the game too. He said he'd never seen anything like it for a preseason game, in terms of crowd etc. It's a nice ground and a great pitch for that level.

Very impressive 45 minute debut. Oozes class. So calm and composed. Made a few poor choices, but that will improve.

Should start every cup game and please don't waste him out wide.

We almost have too many young talents now and not enough games.

Looked impressive from the highlights reel. Lets not get carried away, this was vs a non league team.. Some of the reaction have compared him to Pogba. (Hyperbole, but we all love it when an academy player shows promise)

I'd like to see him feature more in pre season. I hope we have unearthed a gem.

We once said the same thing about Ibe, Sinclair, Canos, Kevin Stewart and countless more.

Not quite. Ibe maybe and still could turn out that way. Sinclair and Canos never oozed class, just potential. And Stewart surpassed very low expectations, worked hard and was efficient.

This kid is different. Ibe is the only reasonable comparison except they are completely different types of players so hard to compare.

Ejaria reminds me of Yaya Toure in his style of play, let's hope he becomes close to that level

He looks kinda slow, but his touch is super and he puts plenty of zing on his passes. Great balance as well.

The "looks kinda slow" is Toure-esque. He has long strides and was continually breaking into space, but it never looked hard.
