Pre season 21/22 season

Neco is the only one who hadn't impressed for me.

He seems really limited technically and struggles in possession.
Ditto. 4 attempted and failed dribbles (watch the slow motion step-overs) and 3 failed crosses plus gave the ball away a couple of times. He wasn't totally inept and had his moments but we need far better than that from a RB when attacking / passing.

Clarkson was great too. And Woodburn ... he is so so much better in midfield and surely that's where his future lies. Unlikely to be with us but a nice way to sign off if he moves this window.

Origi disappointed yet again I'm afraid and I'd be looking to get him out any way possible now, we need a CF. If we can get a better back up for RB that takes priority over midfield for me. If we have enough injuries, or need to rest players, that we have to use Clarkson, Beck, Elliott and even Gordon & Cain, I'd not be too worried, they are all class youngsters.

For once looking forward to the league cup and the chance to see Gordon play again.

I think Woodburn is too old to be classified as U21 - so he’d need to be given one of the Home Grown slots - which could work if we do want to sell one of Davies or Nat.

SKY PLAYER RATINGS
Liverpool:
Kelleher (6), N. Williams (6), Konate (7), Gomez (7), Tsimikas (7), Oxlade-Chamberlain (9), Fabinho (7), Jones (6), Gordon (6), Minamino (8), Firmino (8).

Subs: B. Davies (n/a), R. Williams (6), Beck (6), Bradley (n/a), Thiago (6), Henderson (6), Woodburn (7), Clarkson (6), Origi (6).

Man of the match: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

I'd change some of those, though rating on 'just' 45-60 mins is obviously a little bit different to those that played the full 90 mins : Neco (5), Gomez (8.5), Konate (8), Tsimikas (8.5), Clarkson (7), Woodburn (7.5), Gordon (7). Firmino (8.5). The extra 0.5 because their rating could be rounded up or down depending on how you saw it.

I thought Gordon was very quiet but that might just be me.
Konate for me was better than Gomez who has some iffy moments.

Gordon was quiet because we focused our attack on the left, also the he should have had like 10 freekicks. The fullback covering him was being a cunt and ref didn't help.
Minamino should have passed him the ball the first time he was through on goal.

Was ox truly that good? I thought he was on and nothing more

There have been others too. Grujic looked the biz in pre-season when he first arrived. Even Aspas looked like a baller in those early games.

Ox was "on fire", like Klopp put it.
But you have to be a bit sceptical when basically everyone had a good game.
I think it's a case of Osasuna being bad.

Lijnders was impressed by Woodburn’s performance.

“Again, what a performance from Ben,” Lijnders said.

“The energy he brings to the team is exactly what we stand for. Football smart, a good mover and he unbalances the opposition constantly with the ball but also with his movement off it.

“I’m so happy for him. Like many of the team it didn’t come easy for him, but he has an Anfield future.”

Unless he signs a new contract he doesn't
