Pre Match - Crystal Palace (H) - Sat 15:00

I just watched the highlights on ourmatch.net and it seems they had very good opportunities -
However, overall, it seems like a really good performance.

Agree with most of that. Mo defo MotM - his tracking back to help out was superb today too. Marks-wise, nitpicking - I'd increase a couple and decrease a couple :

Konate : up to 6.5. Once he settled he was good and that excellent block on Eduardo (sp.) was his not Ali's.
Mane - down to 6.5. His passing was still poor despite going past a few players today. He virtually disappeared in the 2nd and I was surprised he wasn't hooked.
Jota - down to 4 He was far worse than a 5.5 ! One has to wonder what he'd have to (not) do to get lower? His worst ever game for us. And that miss ...

Really unfair to Mané - he was excellent today and look liked himself.

He had one awful pass that looked like a shot on the break that wasted a great opportunity, but everyone has that in their locker, as he did was getting 8 or 9.

What he did do today was:
- not break up our play running from space into dead ends
- miss the simple passes either behind players or to the other team
- Was a continuous challenge to the defense
- Worked with Tsimikas well and helped him defensively, which he needed way more than Robbo
- not flop on the ground with every contact and often just powered through any contact (I'm not sure he was awarded a single foul, BTW, which is getting a bit upsurd and affected his form. But he ignored it).
- dig out a beautiful cross to Salah which almost resulted in a goal
- and scored a fairly simple goal, but keeping it simple and not fucking with his own head.

Mané always drifts a little in and out of the game, but part of that is because when we are under pressure, we rely on Salah and not Mané as the outlet. Mané, like Robbo, usually dig in more on the left than TAA and Salah on the right. We already knew that.

I think Mo, Hendo, Ali were our best 3 (superb 8.5+) and Mané was next with 8.

And, I think we give VVD a little too much credit today. There were too many spaces in our box today and we were fortunate to keep a clean sheet and Hendo, Fabinho, Thiago were not at fault for that, even though Fabinho gave up that one awful ball.

Sorry, too long.

Mané had a great game and looked on form. Not amazing or world class, but very good. He deserves credit for one day, at least.

Maybe we should give someone else a chance for the cup games? To keep @Brizzle fresh and save the magic for the games that matter most.

Not Dreamy, of course.

He’s the Kelly’s Heroes official match started, which is for the league only. I think he can have a rest for the league and FA cups. We can rotate him out once we have 12 points in the champions league.

@Brizzle your thoughts? Hope you didn’t catch a dose in the Harry.

Its pretty clear that Brizzle had a massive dump in the Harry to please the Gods before the game.
A true hero!

When we win the league this season, Brizzle will be due some tremendous credit.

As a Naby hater I thought he took his goal really well. I can’t comment on the rest of his game cos the kids were being cunts. I missed most of the last 30.

It was brilliant. And, everyone was saying his celebration was Cantona-like, but I think he was genuinely too shocked that he hit it so cleanly to react for 10 seconds.

I'm shocked by some comments/reviews on here, it's like you have no fucking idea what you're watching.

For those that haven't seen the game....

Mané had his best game in a long time, almost back to his best.

Jota had his worst game in a Liverpool shirt but who cares because we won and he was due a stinker

Konate started nervously but got better as the game went on....a solid 7/10.

Palace were excellent and caused us lots of problems but will cause lots of teams problems if they keep playing like that

Our midfield did very well against tough opposition but we lost the midfield when Keita replaced the injured Thiago. Despite his superb goal Keita doesn't seem strong enough for the EPL.

Salah was superb, Hendo and van Dijk were also very good. Milner did an amazing job nullifying Zaha although he had a lot of cover, particularly from Salah.

Curtis Jones didn't disappoint, similar to the Milan game, he came on and tried to influence the game, I think he should start next week ahead of Keita (presuming Thiago is out).

We are top of league!

Exactly.

Palace look a really decent team. Last week was no fluke. And, Gallagher is a gem. He would be worthy replacement for Keita, if we decide to sell, and before he costs a Grealish fortune, although won't be cheap. Klopp already mentioned his quality in the presser yesterday.

To be fair, we started losing the midfield battle when Thiago was still on the pitch - I don’t think Keita was the reason.

We play a system that relies on fullbacks. Our backups did well enough to give the others a rest, without us looking as irredeemably shit as we normally do in the circumstances. That bodes well. Tsimikas is now a really solid alternative when needed. Milner isnt, when we meet pace, but we did well enough.

Haha yeah, no.

He wasn’t. Their subs and trying to save the game were making a difference.

To be fair, one of their subs, the dwarf-looking Riedewald made a difference in our favour when he completely lost Salah from a corner and was generally shit throughout.

No, we were never in total control of midfield because Palace played well but we only lost midfield when Keita came on and refused to tackle. He's a very good player but if you can't tackle (as part of a 3 man midfield) then the EPL is not the place for you.

Happy to delegate the EFL cup to @Dreambeliever but I’ll take all PL, CL & FA Cup games.

Dreamy, all yours. Remember the method: Brief analysis. Line up.

You were watching a game in your head - I'll leave you to it.

Considering it seems I’m one of the very few who actually watched the game on a legal high quality service and you are refreshing a shit illegal stream every few mins then I’ll forgive you for not spotting patterns of play very well.

Careful you’ll be accused of watching a game in your head with comments like that.

Brilliant? What did you that warranted brilliant outside of a superbly struck goal?

The level of control in midfield fell off a cliff when he replaced the sublime Thiago.

I must have watched a different game in my HD IPTV feed, I don’t think we ever had control of the midfield today despite a decent performance from the team, it was pretty end to end when Thiago was on the field and off. Only there was few less silly free kicks given away.
