It's Klopp. It's going to be 4-3-3 no matter how much I like the idea of 4-2-3-1. We know he is going to go tried and tested 90% of the time - I just hope that Firmino & Milner get benched. No way he's leaving Hendo out of this one with virtually no fit midfielders. I'm giving Elliott a go on the left just for the hell of it.

---------------------Allison----------------------
Trent----Gomez----VVD-------Robertson
--------------------Fabinho--------------------
--------Hendo-------------------Elliott--------
---------------------Carvalho---------------------
-----------Salah--------------Diaz-------------

I'm going to be 30m under the Atlantic while this match is going on. If we don't smash boirnemouth I may not surface.

I on the other hand will be sat in the main upper stand while this match is going on. If we fail to come away with 3 points.....I'm throwing myself off the tallest nearby building.

-------------Alisson
Trent--Gomez--VVD--Tsimikas
-----Bajcetic--Fabinho
Elliott-----Carvalho-------Diaz
---------------Salah

I hope we see some big changes. Klopp is unlikely to deter from a 433, but I think he should until we have some players back.

Wow, what are going to be doing under the sea?

I’d go:

---------------------Allison----------------------
Trent-----Gomez-------VVD----Robertson
-------------Hendo---Fabinho--------------
---Elliott--------Bobby/Carvalho-------Diaz
----------------------Salah--------------------

There’s no point persisting with Bobby at ST, if he plays at CAM, then him dropping from time to time and playing in between the pockets might help free up space. Alternatively, give Carvalho a chance as he’s been impressive in the limited time he’s played.

Elliot mainly played as a RW/RM at Blackburn, that’s where he excelled.

I’d even be tempted to give Robbo a break as he hasn’t been at his usual level and give Tsimikas a chance.

If Matip is back, I’d even drop Trent and play Gomez RB for that defensive stability.

This is Bournemouth - an absolutely certainty for relegation - I'd not drop Trent for this one because it's unlikely we'll be tested too much and his attacking contributions will be required more to break down the deep BFC defence

This, I suspect, will be what we go with, Carvalho instead of Bobby. Questions over Robbo vs Tsimikas, and maybe I'd play the greek instead.

I am worried we won't see much in the way of changes from United - i'd like to see us try and create a new dynamic in midfield

--------------Alisson-------------
Trent--Gomez--VVD--Robbo
---------Fabs---Bajetic-----------
---------------Elliot-----------------
Salah-------Bobby----------Diaz

Carvalho has been a bright sub as everyone has suggested but the only person Klopp would trust him to replace is Diaz, which is odd as he played in a midfield three role at Fulham.

There are shots, and there are clear cut chances where you shoot.
Teams have sussed us out, making it harder to craft clear chances.
Most of our shots are from harmless positions, but stats will be stats, so they somehow still count, glossing over the picture.

Spot on - teams force us into playing in one way... floaty crosses into the box. I can't think when we last created numerous chances from cut backs (Trent rarely overlaps these days) or from counter attacks or even sharp and precise passing around the box. Everything we do these days is a big lift and very predictable at the same time.

You can even see how they block our main passing lanes out wide. Ten Haag set them up well for this, while also for exploiting our weaknesses around Trent, and behind our midfielders. Robbo often had three players around him when the ball came to him a bit upfield.

Firmino, for all his faults, was then often the outlet who came to the rescue, and was actually important for us to keep the ball, as he has some calmness and skill between the lines, under pressure.

We were at our best when attacking with speed and energy. No we are so slow and laborious it makes it easy for teams to sit compact and watch us hit a brick wall every time.

Allison
Trent--JoGo--VdV--Kostas
Hendo-Fabs
Fabio
Harvs Salah Diaz

I'd play a 4-3-3 (or maybe a slight 4-2-1-3 when we attack) instead of a 4-2-3-1. Salah is definitely no CF and even if he plays as a false nine, Fabio and Salah will run into the same spaces and there will be much confusion, fo'shure.

But i still dont like our shape either way. Our flanks are looking weak, and Bournemouth will certainly try to exploit them esp. with Trent and Robbo (if he plays) still in pre-season mode. Diaz and Harvs will have to do A LOT of running esp. when tracking back to cover our fullbacks.

The only way i'd feel comfortable going into the game with that lineup is to attack right from the start. Otherwise, it'll be another topsy-turvy game for us.

It's a shame that Gomez has to play CB as I think dropping Trent from RB is something we should consider - he's woefully out of form defensively. He might even be an emergency option at RW with Salah down the middle. He is being targetted every game and it is paying off for the opposition every game.

I'm inclined to go with what most are saying, start playing Salah as the central striker and see how it goes. He's not been that great for a while on the right now and seems even more out of sorts with the way the rest of the team are playing, especially Trent, though he is linking well with Harvey. It's a shame Nunez did what he did, as Salah seemed to be linking quite well with him too. As it stands though, the righthand side and midfield are a mess. A change is as good as the rest.

In fairness, lack of cover at RB has only been an issue for about 4 seasons now... so can't expect too much.

EDIT: no, we did manage to sign a teenage fullback with an undiagnosed medical issue, so egg on my face!

I've said it every game so far this season; we're not testing the keeper. Shots mean fuck all if we're not testing the keeper
At least our possession is still in the high 60s.

According to some pundits, that's all that matters.

And we did have Neco, who was considered too attacking? But I guess he wanted games.
Then there is Joe G.

Is anyone else remotely worried we're too messed up right now to get even a point?
My heart says "no way Wiz, it's the #20 team for the season"
But my head is saying, "VvD isn't the same player he was - something is off. Robbo is off. TAA is still on vacation working on his muscles. Fabinho can't string 20 good minutes in a row, let alone a good game. Hendo is not the same player. Salah won't be played centrally. Bobby will start and he's finished (Sorry Sean) and Diaz is great but can't give us the goal threat we once had from the left flank to accommodate the lack of goals from the #9 spot. Pray for a point."
