Pre Match Pre Match - Accrington Stanley - (H) - FA Cup - Sat 12:15

Not buying Slot's explanation for not subbing Salah.
Extremely fit players can have bad games too.

I just think that Slot doesn't really trust some of the players and he's not willing to give them a real chance until he does.
This is where Klopp differed.
Klopp also gave Salah full games. Those times he did come off he tended to look like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

Question is, when do you earn that trust? Can't be in training, so must be minutes on the pitch. But he doesn't give them minutes on the pitch.

Jarell Quansah and Dominik Szoboszlai are set to come back into contention for Liverpool’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Accrington Stanley.

The Reds enter the competition at the third-round stage by hosting the League Two team at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.

Arne Slot reported at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning that Quansah is expected to be available after being withdrawn during the first half of the midweek Carabao Cup defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

And Szoboszlai, who was absent for that game and the preceding Premier League draw with Manchester United due to illness, is also back in training.

slot needs to start using his squad before it is too late and the team is burned our

I think its already burning out - and what Slot needs to do is rest key parts of it where he can whilst we have the opportunities. I think Lillie and PSV CL games are also ones we need to let Mo and Grav rest, and possibly Virgil.

I don’t think so - not sure anyone is showing signs of burnout.

Gravy is probably the closest - but everyone else looks fine and their minutes have been managed as required.

Virgil always plays in his slippers half the time - gets fucked off when Trent makes him get up and put his boots on.

The FA Cup? Exactly

“We’re aware we were once mentioned in a milk advert,” reads the bio on Accrington Stanley’s X page. “We hear ‘Who are they?’ and ‘Exactly’ a lot.” Don’t be misled by the weary tone regarding their mention in the famous 1989 Milk Marketing Board advertisement, for which the club received £10,000. The connection has always been embraced and never more so than in the buildup to their third round visit to Liverpool, the Premier League leaders. As the Accrington captain, Seamus Conneely, said: “We’ve made it to third and fourth rounds before, we’ve had League Cup runs and played in some great stadiums, but we’ve finally got that big one. Liverpool is going to top it all.” Accrington have sold their entire 4,700-ticket allocation and the tie is of huge significance to the striker Josh Woods, a boyhood Liverpool fan whose reaction to the draw went viral and prompted a reply from Ibrahima Konaté. Liam Coyle is another Red who started out in Liverpool’s academy, while the management team of John Doolan and Ged Brannan are also from Liverpool. This is an FA Cup moment to cherish. Andy Hunter

That's the thing. Look Quansah for instance, one bad game and he was sent to purgatory.

🚨Arne Slot Press Conference Summary:

🗣Arne Slot on transfer links: What I make of that is that it's January. I said after West Ham, don't disappoint me and come up with all these names. Now that's what is happening now. 99 times out of 100 it becomes clear almost all these stories are not true. Rumours keep going.

🗣Arne Slot on Szoboszlai and Quansah: Dom trained with the U21s yesterday, Jarell was a bit ill last week, but I'm expecting him to be available tomorrow.

🗣Arne Slot on Accrington: I don't know that much as I am only here half a year but I do know about the milk advert! There was a clip about it. I know people from this area also play for this club. And I know a lot about the team which today I'll know even more about it.

🗣Arne Slot on form: I don't see that many differences to many of games we played. Only thing it we played last two games after a 6-3 and a 5-0. After those, everybody said 'we know they were good but didn't know they were THAT good'. Last two were of lower standards.

Even against Leicester we were only 2-1 up with 10 mins to play. All the games we have won, we have deserved to win with possible exception of Chelsea, but they have almost always been by a small margin. We need to have bigger margin.

We don't want to have to depend on luck or good luck. Against Palace, we were 1-0 up and they missed a big chance near the end. Tottenham, if ref had given red card we'd have kept clean sheet and maybe won. People would have said good performance.

🗣Arne Slot on Elliott: He is a talented player. He was very unlucky he was out for a long time. What I've seen until now with almost all our players who have been out for almost quite a while, in this league it's not so easy to come back and be at best.

We have that balance of giving them playing time to get to top level but also win games. As I've said, our margins are almost always small. If you're 5-0 up you can bring players on, but that's not how we have been winning games.

🗣Arne Slot on opponents attacking mostly down Liverpool right: Could mean we attack more on our right and they play on counter-attack. We need to see how we concede, it's not just the right, they still have to go to the middle to score a goal, and players from left have to cover.

I do see a pattern in how we concede, but I don't see a pattern about Trent. I know there's lot of focus on him at moment but I'd like to highlight focus of how well he did when coming in last half-hour v Tottenham and how our fans reacted to him.

Every team we face it's a special occasion, especially for a lower league team. They'll be up for it. Nine times out of 10 their players are all fit and none are suspended. The challenge is for us to bring the best out of our selves. For Accrington will feel like CL final.

First 25-30 minutes will be most difficult part of game as they will still be very intense. They will want to play the best game of their lives.

When I was at Feyenoord I always said I was unlucky in the draw, by which we often had the most difficult team we could face. I don't remember playing against a very low league club in managerial career in Holland, but was only there three or four years.

🗣Arne Slot on rhythm: It's not difficult because if you are in league like this and you play so many games, one of the most important things is to give players rest once in a while. In both games v United and Tottenham it was intense, especially Tottenham, in terms of physical output.

In last few weeks we've changed a few positions and they've been out for weeks and they have to find rhythm. That's exactly what we saw against Tottenham. After first 20 minutes, we got in their final third just as many times as three weeks earlier but didn't create chances.

🗣Arne Slot on Chiesa: Every game is a chance for every player to get playing time. It's also that he has to compete with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah. Not often Mo doesn't play, he is fittest player here.

Not only about Federico in terms of playing time, it's to do with others as well. We will see in upcoming weeks and months if he's able to help us as it's going to be even more intense.

These players are doing really well when they train with us and playing with U21s. If they continue that their chance.

We still have to train. Yesterday we couldn't as flight coming back arrived quite late here so we gave them a day off. We have to wait and see how everybody has recovered and make a decision. Trey has been in squad many times, Rio once.
